Affordable canon full frame

Great info, everyone. I wish they made some sort of ef speed booster that could turn a super 35 crop camera with an ef mount into a full frame ef mount. That’s probably mechanically impossible, but I love that they can do it with the c70. Now if only that camera wasn’t so expensive.

Timecode in/out, the cinema menu and unlimited recording are worth the additional price for me.

My post was counter to my previous post where I knocked the camera from the terms of a work tool for cinematography :)

Its both seriously lacking and also mainy makes a nice pricture when you squeeze the button.

Lp batts suck! You cant tell which is full before you head out.
my r6 runs on sony bpu kept in the pocket or screwed on the cage
bpu have the same voltage as v so can be interchanged as per the draw requirement.

i think the r5c is getting beyond the cost where micro hdmi is acceptable - who would get a r5c when you could get a c70?

Agreed on LP batteries. They're not really for video. But useful in a pinch if you're going WAY stripped down and just need to grab a few clips. And at least they're small.

Micro hdmi is a crappy format, but on a tripod I just use a cable clamp and a small rig adapter that goes from micro to full size and then use the full size. I wish it was something different, but what can you do.

I got the R5C over the C70 since I take photos as well. I think that's the primary reason someone would go that route. If you only need video, by all means go for the C70. It's a better video camera.

If you're using the camera for live event video work then you can't use the full battery. Once it falls to 25% it's best to switch out instead risking it dying in the middle of an important take.

you have a Pocket 6K? (best to also look at results online and see what people think about these)

Let's break down the cost

BM4k: $1,300 + $550 adapter + $150 install = $2k

You could simply get the 6k G2 for the same price without voiding your warranty or the 6k pro for $500 more

Yeah, as a b cam for the ursa 12k, the pocket cameras would be ideal (video wise). Same color science. But I thought a full frame canon would be better because a) it’s full frame and b) it’s good for stills. The Blackmagic cameras aren’t great for stills.

Plus those speed boosters for the 6K and 12k add some fear to the equation. The speed boosters for the 4k I believe easily just go on, but I couldn’t use it to take stills.

It looks like Panasonic has a new full frame contender. This is it: Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX Mirrorless Camera

It looks like it can record pro res which is nice and it’s full frame.

I wonder if this adapter would let me use my canon lenses with full autofocus?

As good as you are at making YouTube tutorial videos and teaching people things, you stink at watching others' videos, lol.

YouTube the question...you'll have your answer in minutes/seconds with - sometimes more importantly than words on a forum - some visual results to provide you a sense of what's capable.

ha, you can do both...but for a question like that, a few days after an announcement, only YouTubers with the cameras will have the best answers right now.

You can, but might depend on how you use it and what you're used to, your standards, etc.

canon r6 batteries suck for longform video work

just like my ex1, fs7, zcam my r6 is rigged wikth a dummy battery to run on bpu batts

bpu have a tester with run a dslr for many hours and are 12-14v to match vlock so I can use vlock when the going gets tough

Sigma MC-21 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to L-Mount Camera)

The following video clip shows a comparison between the autofocus with following lenses:

- Panasonic Lumix S PRO 50 mm F1.4: L-mount
- Sigma 18 - 35 mm F1.8: EF-Mount + MC-21 Adapter
- Sigma 24 -70 mm F2.8: L-Mount
- Panasonic Lumix S 24 -105 mm F4.0: L-Mount

The aperture was wide open for all shots.

I gotta say that is not much of a stress test. Any modern camera and lens ought to be handle such slow movement. Why not throw something harder at them to see where they break?

That test footage looks pretty good and glad to know you can use ef lenses with an adapter and get good results. The Panasonic seems to give you more for your money than canon and sony. I'm curious, I own the Sigma 18-35. It's not full Frame though, right? How is it working on a full frame Panasonic camera?

As far as focusing results, I'm reading that canon and sony may have better autofocus, but Panasonic's new autofocus seems to be leaps and bounds better than it's old af system. Do you all agree?
