I just picked up one of these and have started to play a bit. Thus far I've only tested the Panny 14-140 but it seems to be working well. I thought it would be cool to know if other people are trying this and what things are looking like. I just shot a few quick shots without light in my kitchen.

I know right, oh the flares will come. Your in Suriname? My gig at the moment is shooting a TV show with a guy who also shoots Bizarre Foods and was just there last week! He said it was great!

Would this be 2:35 to 1 aspect ratio? How much light loss?

1. Yes.
2. None.

But the third question is -- what's the problem then? Problem is that it's a lens designed for a standard-def video camera, and it's not made to HD standards, and using it on any longer lenses can make it extremely difficult to get focus, if at all. The lens was a problem enough on the DVX100 that I wrote up a complete "anamorphic adapter guide" including charts for what f-stop you're allowed to use, at what zoom settings.

It was fun to play with, but difficult to work with. I did a few spots with it on the DVX100, but I wasn't sad to see it go.

Yes it has been fun to play with! And your right it's not perfect. I've seen some really crisp stuff from gh1 users. It would be fun to see other AF100 guys/gals trying it out.
