Acessories for your T2i

I received the Kawaphoto adapters for Nikon and Olympus OM. Snapped right in, used them this weekend, no problems. Build quality seems good.

Yeah I am waiting for mine. I also have some manual primes and some other funky low cost lenses coming with Nikon mount. I figure if I stick with FF35mm film still lenses, I should be good to go no matter what sensor size is thrown our way in the NEAR future. I am geeked about experimenting with the lenses. :)

BTW, please tell me that this adaptor will accept pre-AI lenses!

Darn it, can't find good help these days!

So I ordered a couple of generic 7.2v LP-E8 extra batteries from ebay, but when I received my shipment today, what I got was the 7.4v 1120mAh LP-E8's. Now I don't know whether to just keep them or ask for an exchange... not sure if the voltage difference is going to cause a problem. But I'm think why risk a $900 camera by using the wrong $8 battery?

Please let me know if you think the 7.2v vs 7.4v difference will cause any problems? Thanks!

There should be a 5% tollerance in the cam as in any electronic system which would allow to use max 7.56V but I guess I might be wrong .... anyone else on this ?

Anyone get this? I'm interested if it works as well enough as the official model.

I have a Phottix (China)-branded grip and it's working perfectly so far. It looks like the one in the link, but I'm not sure if it's the same one. Reason I went the 3rd-party route is b/c the official Canon bg-e8 costs $250 + 13% tax up here (~$283), which is a little (A LOT) more than I wanted to spend.

Really. You get the whole camera for $800, and they part you to death. What is the AC adapter... $67? Mine was BOd at B&H and just arrived yesterday. I love the design, how you have to remove the battery, so if you lose power while you're shooting, you're toast.

So any word on the T2i body armor thing? I like to get one but seems like no one has gotten theirs yet. I want to pimp this T2i of mine or at least make it look cute.

I got the silicon "case" for it... its cumbersome with the battery grip so I took it off... I've considered chopping it up a bit to make it fit better... also around the lens mount, there is a small lip on the silicon, which can make it not-as-easy to swap lenses....

I suppose it has its fans.

As for the battery grip, FANTASTIC! A best buy IMHO, more stable, more power, more.... AWESOMENESS

Does the battery grip show the correct battery power remaining if you use it with official Canon batteries? Is the lack of the correct battery display only a problem with the aftermarket batteries?

If your using only Canon batteries the remaining display should be fine. I think this is only an issue with aftermarket batteries. The ones I have will show that they are full then go to 50% and die pretty quickly after.

Li-ion batteries are built with cells labeled with nominal voltage of either 3.6/3.7V. The actual voltage drops from 4.2V to about 2.9V as the battery goes from full to empty. A two cell unit therefore provides working voltage from 8.4V to 5.8V.

The manufacturer can say the voltage is anywhere in between and still be accurate. I would assume that Canon calls it 7.2V to scare people away from non original batteries.

BTW I plugged my HV-1 AC charger (8.4v) directly into my T2i camera through a (modified, I added a power plug) battery grip. It works and saves $70 for the overpriced AC kit.

As for a US based silicone skin, guys, Adorama and B&H have one for the t2i. B&H is $40 and Adorama's is $30. Same brand, I'm not sure why the price difference.

Update on MY silicone skin case experience. It took a friggin' month and a half to get out to me but it's AWESOME. No it has not had ANY noticeable effect on it's tendency to overheat. (That hasn't really been a problem either and I've been shooting a ton of different shorts with it)

It makes me feel alot better about rain and since I live in Seattle that's a big plus.

B.T.W. GREAT FIND on that battery grip!
