AC130: AC130 (HMC150 replacement) with HPX370 chip set?

They keep changing the model number without it even being on the market yet.
They started off as 160/130. Then it changed to 160E/130E, that's when it was changed to 22x zoom. Now it has changed again to 160EJ/130EJ. I hope there is another improvement to go along with it

The model number hasn't changed. You're looking at the marketing designations for specific territories. It's an AC160PJ in America, an AC160EJ in Europe, etc. But it's the same model, same hardware. And yes, it's a 22x zoom.

Having owned a few 150's from their launch, I am honestly happy that panny has come up with solutions to the couple (only a couple) shortcomings of the HMC150. Not thrilled they went CMOS but that will be determined when there is actual real footage out there. I would love to put down a DSLR and HMC150 and use, what seems like the AC130, a single camera under $4000. The price point is appealing because I will be looking to get 2 or 3 of them for multicam shoots... and other $6000+ options just get to damn expensive especially when accessorized..

You guys can go back and forth all you want but you both have made valid points. The market will determine the rest... To much speculation going on before we actually can get our hands on this thing and put it through the ringer.. reminds me of the AF100 launch all over again. With the type of stuff I normally shoot, DSLRS with picture lenses are never going to be the answer.

So, who recommends unloading the HMC150 now before it incurs a more significant drop in value?

Which specific shortcomings are addressed in the new version?

I'm thinking about buying an HMC150 now (the just-under-$4000 price tag of the new one is out of the question for what is to be a B/safety cam for my AF100), so flipping your question, is now a decent time to buy an HMC150, or will it drop significanly in value? Is $2500 too much for a barely used one? How about $2250?

I bought one in December on the forums here for just north of $2000.

As far as shortcomings addressed, the AC's will be much sharper, have a longer zoom reach, and dual SD card recording.

Good heavens, what would we do with ourselves without arguing specs long before there's real footage to judge? Take up knitting? Get into bar fights???

Hi Barry, just wondering how the sensor from the 370 compares to the current 150 sensor in terms of low light performance/noise etc?

Also, will there be some kind of flash banding fix implemented in-camera?

Much appreciated.

Value also is going to be case by case... I purchased my 2nd HMC used and paid more for a <100hr camera in perfect condition with a few accessories over the "cheapest one" I could find.

The Sharpness and the Dual SD cards are a winning combo, longer zoom is icing on the cake... Any word on the LCD? I could use more rez and a larger viewing angle and it would be an ideal camera.. (been spoiled with the EX1 LCD lately)

Right??
