I volunteer for a non profit organization. I was asked to bring my camera (AC-90) along because there might be something they wanted filmed. When I showed up there was a women in costume ready for her interview. I didn't know it would be an interview and didn't bring my wireless mic. I did a quick sound check of the on camera settings. The best sounding was the 5.1. So here is the interview with the on camera microphone if anyone is interested how it sounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm_mNWpCa8g

Interesting. Thanks for sharing as I normally use shotgun and wireless with my AC90. The sound is clear and usable. I suspect many of us forget there are some reasonable mics on the camera. Your video has made me think again and I might try some experiments to get some experiences with the on board mics.

I seem to recall there is a "zoom" feature on the mics. Did you try that? I assume (having not used it) that it would loose the side noise better than the 5.1 surround sound?

It does seem you had to deal with "everything" cars, chainsaw(?) , hammering etc but overall it comes across well for an "on the street interview". I might have tried a few extra takes to loose some of the noise (though you might have done that) and try asking the people with the hammers etc to hold off for 10 minutes. Though there is nothing you could do with most of the extraneous noise like the cars... I don't suppose the local police/Sheriff would close the road for an hour for you? :-)

The only other thought was I would have reframed the shot on the porch so you didn't have the chain link fence and metal posts in the background. But this is being really picky which is easy to do with some one else's work :-) However as I said the audio is good and it has made me think about trying the onboard mics. Thanks for sharing.
