GH2 about to finish shooting my feature :)

So was I the only who downloaded the full Rez file??? I'll not comment on things that looked "soft" to me, since you've states that was a aesthetic choice. However even the the car shots seemed under exposed and soft.

Dont worry I find Kaminski "soft" as well. But it will be good to see how you finish this odd.

i wish there were more "whole raw file" downloaders like you ;)
i don't know how soft are the Canon lenses compare to a 'softer' footage, but i found the majority of the footage quite sharp (that is, not TOO soft)..
anyway i think i'm quite confident in saying even my softest shots are sharper then let's say, canon footage.
and some of the darker shots were done with 1600 asa, so there quite good results i think.
again: noise, color banding and other codec limitation are rather easy to solve in post. especially when there are just a few problematic shots.

anyway i appreciate deep pixel peeping talks :)

Post is a wonderful concept.

Of course 'post' is a wonderful, thing. And RoiZ has indicated he was going for a specific look, that to me is 'softer' than I would shoot... That being said, there are some things that can't be overcome in 'post' if the data is not there... to me the car shots were not soft due to the selection of lens, but just that the focus, or light conditions, just were a bit 'too low'. Other shots, that had a bit of 'bloom' I presume were intentional, since RoiZ has indicated he used a filter on some shots as well.

Now if the car shots end up being 'posted' to some sort of interesting visual effect... well that would be a good thing... or something done to have them 'fit' into the rest of the film, well, it is all a learning process...

For a short I did several years ago 2 'bad' things happened... the first shots were fairly underexposed (not intentional...), and the audio sucked big time... what... we don't need no stinking audio... Anway, on the underexposed shots, it was supposed to be a 'night' shot so I was able to boost a little and still get a reasonable image. The audio... I did get it up to at least barely audible... I did do some ADR clips the day after the main shoot, but what I didn't realize is the actress was not matching 'the script' in the production shots, but did match the script in the ADR session... oops...

no, no, sorry for my stupid post - i meant that HE means YOU claim that Vimeo has better quality. he claims the opposite :)

I've lost track of he, you, them and all other pronouns. I believe without a doubt that YouTube's 1080p is a far lower-quality image than Vimeo's 1080p and Vimeo's 720p is probably better than YouTube's 1080p.

anyway- uploading the 720p version to Vimeo.
the password will be pixelpeeperz

That was great. The footage looked great, but besides that it just had a great feeling to it. מצוין

Kind of gave me the same feeling the first time I saw the Biutiful trailer. Again, great job.

As i dont pay i only get vimeo 720P and trust my eyes showing more sharpness from you tube 1080P connected to my 1920x180P pioneer, one thing for sure watching the raw files play through with a card reader in a PS3 is a good comparrison. Not that it matters in films like Roeiz it looks great on any upload site.

Wow, very encouraging to hear, thanks.I'll need plenty of that while editing this whole thing..

Amazing what you guys are doing with this cam...mindblowing, especially for a newbie =)

What aperture did you use for the conversation with the boy and the girl in the last minutes, something like 3:40-end ? And what would be recommanded when using a 50mm, I guess 2.8 for the bokeh ?

First I thought the canon glas was used at 4:22/4:25 around in comparison to 3:35...hehe

Thanks so much for sharing. What speed are your FDs? Do you use a Fader ND as well? This contrast filter looks really interesting and I do think the new lenses are really contrasty.... i would prefer to add my levels more in post...

Looking forward to seeing more of your feature. Would you say that you got most of what you needed from these two lenses?

the 20mm is 2.8, the 50mm is the classic 1.4,
i used the FaderND for most exterior daylight shots.
i'm starting to edit the footage, so it will take a while till i'll have some kind of a more 'serious' trailer.
yea i got what i needed with the lens. but i'm an easy shooter ;) i get around with what i have.
i suppose going a bit wider than 20mm (actual 40mm on a m4/3 sensor) could have helped, but no big deal. anyway, the widest FD you can get is 17mm i think.

Right on. I'm kind of interested in that new Olympus micro 4/3 lens that a 12mm F2. That would come in handy. I did rent the tokina 11-16 which is a really nice lens. I'm pretty much only going to be buying a 2.8 or faster from here.

cheers and keep on truckin'

I was looking at that lens but man...$800 seems like alot for a single m4/3 prime. If its Zeiss level stuff I'd understand but i was expecting prices similar to the Panny 20mm or 14mm

It is pricey but it's just the first offering... There's really nothing else quite like that on the market though.. and even Zeiss doesn't have something that wide and that fast... It might also be something that I buy for my project, use it for a couple of months and then sell it.

Thanks.I wonder if the footage gives any ideas of what's going on in the story..

Sister/girlfriend dies. Main character goes in search of answers. Clue lies in the building in the field. Friend tries to tell main character to move on. MC refuses.

That's my take.
