A7s sample footage

Hey guys,

Here is a 30+ minute short film that I shot on the A7s. We shot it over 3 days with a budget of about $200 bucks. I used nothing but natural and available light (not even a bounce) and the only stabilization I used was a monopod during static scenes. My co-director and I did this as sort of a challenge to ourselves to see if we could do it with such restrictions. Please feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

SICK all handheld with a stabilized lens! So so good. Clearly shows it's all about the camera man / editor. Not the crew and expensive equipment.

Loved your transitions. Any chance you can tell me how you pulled off the transitions in the beginning (the zooming in ones) ? And what post stabilizer you used ?

Hi everyone,

I went out to do some testing with the a7s a couple nights ago. It just happened to be the night of the big apartment fire in Downtown Los Angeles. All handheld with Rokinon primes.

Just wanted to show this footage because I'm so jazzed with this camera.

I love the impromptu nature of this! Amazing! But also some prime examples of the rolling shutter hinderance. :(

That's brilliant footage! Hope everyone was ok though!

Thanks, I felt the need to document it! And it made for some great test footage. I hear you on the shutter, many shots were left out for that reason.

But overall, it was a joy to use.

I believe it!

Meanwhile, have you tried any of the standard rolling shutter plugins- like the ones in Adobe CC, etc?
I was discussing the pros and cons of the A7s with someone who told me the shutter isn't a con, because its easily fixable in post. I'm under the impression that "fix" is only good for correcting skew on things like a pan shot. I've never actually tried to apply it to handheld jello issues like some of these. Wonder if anyone has had positive experience with that?

'Rolling Shutter Repair' in Premiere CC. I'll have to try it on this footage.
