A working Scarlet!

Pretty cool. But I wonder about the single ring that assigned to focus, iris or zoom. What if you need to do more than one at a time? I would hope there is a powered zoom option.

It's exciting to see. :)
This is the favor that I'm going to do for Red. (no sarcasm) I'm NOT going to expect it during 2011. The reason I say that, is because I think that there are enough people who are having emotional break-downs each month that goes by without them launching the Scarlet. My contribution, is to NOT wait...in fact....I'm not going to think about it. It's exciting to see.....here's hoping for the best!

why? fixed lens, 2/3 inch sensor, shaped like DSLR what is it that makes you want this camera?

Yakity Yak, don't talk back!!!!

Sorry. I'm just kidding Yak, I actually agree with you to some extent. I crave 3 rings for frak sakes. First Red, now Canon with their XF100. At the very least, I want 2 rings. One for focus, and one for zoom/iris. Actually, I'm fine if there is a little iris dial, kinda like the way Panasonic designed the iris control on the DVX/HVX/HPX/HMC lines, but one for all three just kinda annoys me in terms of a "pro" camera system.

Where are they on price of the fixed at this point? Haven't been keeping up...

Last I remember it was around $4,750.00. Not sure if that was before or after the man up price increase :).

I still don't understand why a professional camera like the RED One or the Scarlet do not have actual physical buttons. The giant RED logo may look cool but I would rather have shutter, white balance, ND and ISO control buttons there instead.

pretty sure the price was $5750 before HDRx. So another $1000 for that and $2500 for SSD which may become standard, without SSD you wont be able to shoot 120fps or higher Redcode data rates.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I suspect one of the biggest reasons that this camera will be sought after, is RAW (REDCODE) video. Supposedly (last mentioned) it will also have their version of HDR video. 2/3 sensor is NOT desirable to most...but these other reasons are strong in the minds of many. (I don't agree or disagree...but I think that is the "crux" of the matter.)
