A t2i Christmas

If you haven't seem it yet, here's a video we shot for Christmas on the t2i with the 50mm lens, and one or two shots with the kit lens.

I've learned that I would absolutely LOVE the 50mm if it had stabilization on it, because I need to get a lot of low shots, and my tripod only goes so low. I know there there is one of those lenses, but it's like $600, and this one was only $100.

All in all, I think it turned out well.

Hahaha, nice! At first, I thought it was going to be a standard "Aww, cute kids opening their presents and having fun..." but then the punch line at the end made it great.

I actually just sold my 60mm and bought the 18-55mm kit lens with IS. I was getting too irritated with the 60mm because of the T2i's crop-sensor. I had to stand two rooms away to get a decent wide shot, and at least a room away for anything but an extreme close-up.

I have yet to fully test out the kit lens, but so far I'm loving the freedom it gives me to shoot up close and still get good, open shots - and stable ones, too!

If you've got an extra $100 (for purchasing on Ebay), it might not be a bad investment. At least as a back-up to your 50mm.

Thanks for check it out!

Yeah, we have the kit lens, but we didn't have much light to work with in there. I was at 2.8 throughout most of the short just to make it a little lighter.

That was pretty funny! - And one thing, to anyone buying the 18-55mm kit, the kit for the 60D is 18-135mm or something like that, double the range for $100 more. I wish it were a 18-135mm 2.8, really would be a great tool for filmmaking; zooming, IS, constant apeture, low apeture...I'd have a ball.

Nice shots! An external microphone would have been nice though because I could barely hear the guy talking.
