But ...

I have to do a screen check in 30 minutes.

Will upload when I get home.

Also I heard peter falk is coming but that can't be right.

Holy Shiznit! That is frickin' awesome!!! Even at the screening we just had in NYC, there were so many more people there than I thought there would be. It's so great to see a house of people who don't know you, watching your stuff.

Kick it. And this time I guess you know DON'T LEAVE THE PARTY EARLY! You need to work on your getting drunk and stupid skillz, like the Harr-ball.

Well we know they were sold out because of Ron Perlman and Dom Monaghan in the feature :Drogar-Dum(DBG):
This Peter Falk? :D

peterfalk.jpg

LOL.

Actually it was Peter Phok a producer that works with Fessenden often.

But we did have some fun imagining Falk in a talk back ...
[as Peter Falk] (starting to sit down, stops mid way) Uhm. Excuse me. I'm sorry. Just one more question ... you see the thing I don't get ... and I'm sorry, please it's probably just me ... but the thing I don't get is ... [/Peter Falk]

A confusion / source of comments I'm sure Phok is really tired of by now. As a guy named Jack Daniel, I imagine he wouldn't be too offended by the misunderstanding. In any case, his / Fessenden's/ McQuaid's film was awesome. There's a scene where the grave robbers first discover a vampire corpse that is Raimi level execution and still wholly original.

The talk back went really well. The feature director Glenn McQuaid began the introduction of his film by commenting on how excellent he thought our short was and some folks in the audience brought up the idea of making a feature out of it.

Video from yesterday up soon ...

.

I gotcha, I thought it was more like the screening I had where people would come and go between programs. Forgot that the short was playing WITH the feature. Still exciting that so many people got to see your stuff.

Sounds like it went pretty well Jack - once again congrats to you and the rest of the ALMTF team. Looking forward to hearing more about it all when you get some free time and can breathe again.

Thats great Jack, dont forget us little folk :crybaby:

We all know its just a matter of time.

Jack, congrats! Thanks for the Day 1 video. Lots of energy buzzing around there, you fit right in with the best of them.

Thanks for the shoutouts everyone. Michele and David are gone as of this morning. Now it's just me. Barry is in Provo with his wife and Daughters for the most part but will be back Wednesday doing a presentation with Panny. I've been asked to participate too but it's the same time as our Wednesday screening, 1pm. So we'll see if we can delay the thing until 1:30 or if I can come in late.

Here's a cool mention of Zak's Newbreed Filmmaker's blog and ALMTF at Slamdance all in one breath over at ShootingPeople:

NEW BREED - A new addition to Workbook Project
January 9th, 2009 by Ingrid
The incredibly useful Workbook Project recently added another weapon to its creative arsenal. NEW BREED consists of first person accounts of the filmmaking process - you can read through all the posts or go straight to the filmmakers or projects that you’re particularly interested in. The site outlines some NEW BREED goals for 2009:
With the dawn of 2009 comes some new additions to the site. NEW BREED: CRITICAL FOCUS will introduce a new series of interviews, special topics addressed by site regulars and more articles from guest contributers. Look for upcoming conversations with filmmakers Hunter Weeks, Ondi Timoner, Barry Jenkins, Lynn Shelton and Joe Swanberg, as well as a new series of articles by site regulars sharing insight into lessons learned… the hard way. And in a few days we will introduce a prolific filmmaker of short films, Jack Daniel Stanley, who takes his southern gothic horror film, A Little Mouth To Feed, to Slamdance 09 and offers insight into his preparations, planning and experience at the festival.
If you’d prefer not to learn ALL your lessons the hard way, read NEW BREED and hear from filmmakers who learned them for you!

Thanks again for hooking me up there Zak

Nice! Congrats...

Tom...it was some serious fun!

So here goes. Opening night and the film we screen before...

we got moved infront of another equally cool and evene better fit for LMTF before I could contact them. Which I hate to be a tease, but I will be back with info on I SELL THE DEAD, and why that's a cool flick in general, why it's double cool for us to be in front of, and why it's triple cool to be in front of them on opening night. Sorry.

Too late now. 4:30 AM and I have a ton of gear to sell. Look fo rit in the market place tomorrow. Gotta stop "blogging" and take pictures of it all, etc.

Miñana.

Thanks for the interest and support guys.

'I Sell the Dead' was not only a very well done film it was a great fit for ALMTF!

Oooh, congratulations everyone! Actors, directors, producers and anyone that helped there!

macgregor...talked you up a lot and people loved your work big time!

You left our DP out. He's sort of "OK" I guess. :)

I mean I guess he contributed to to the look and feel of the film at least on some level.:D

ha ha ha...

Jack flew out today for Park City. I think Michelle flew out today as well. Not sure about Barry.

But everyone stop by and kick out some love for Jack and his team!

Good luck guys! Get some asses in the seats for your screening Friday!

Mark....we had a blast and I just wish I was still there with Jack!

Meh, looks like video. No DOF. :)

Was that the Barry Green Pimp suit I heard Michelle talking about, near the end of the vid?

OMG wait until you see the pimp suit Barry wore. Jack has a little footage showing it and I am certain he will post it soon!

Zak...that was very cool of you!

Park City: cold.

John Schneider: tall.

yes...very cold. and omg tall! and still hot after all these years!

Seriously everyone....Jack is kicking some booty in Park City at Slamdance Film Festival and even though we screened before a great feature film, a bunch of people came up to Jack and me to tell us the came just to see ALMTF! How incredible was that!!!

Jack...if you see this...know in your heart I wish I was still there. It was an amazing time and thank you so much for pointing me out so they knew I did not always look like Flora!

DVXuser really should be proud because not only did Jack talk up the film he mentioned and talked about this site a lot. I have a feeling we will see a bunch of new members now that they know they too can link up with other talented people right here on this site!

I expect many of you to hook up and end up in a bunch of festivals soon too!

Michele

Seriously, though, we really couldn't have done better than being paired with I Sell the Dead. Aside from being the opening feature, it really was a fantastic fit. The look of Dead was markedly similar, and comparatively speaking, they did it with paper and strings just like we did. :) Thematically, it's a great pairing.

What I found interesting was the number of comedic moments that the audience found in ALMTF. It was a fresh viewing of the film, and the audience found things in it that other audiences haven't. But it worked -- they were right to find the moments comedic. But what was better was how well it tied into Dead -- a movie with many intentionally overt comedic moments. It only solidified the cohesion between the two films, and I think it helped make ALMTF more memorable to the audience.

In all, we couldn't have asked for a better experience (even if we had to keep putting posters back up to replace the shamelessly covered-over ones). I do wish I could have stayed longer.

Wow! jack is sooooooooo attractive on that day1 video. I can´t get him out of my mind. I´m going to leave to my girlfriend. Brb.

seriously David...it was wild to hear people laugh in places I never expected. I think that was great to learn from. I know people here found some moments funny but you should have heard the audience roar with laughter several times. I was afraid they would have missed lines because of it but they just kept going and finding the next line or moment funny.

And some of the gasps when the baby reared it's little head that turned in to nervous laughter were just too cool!
