1) Are there any good backpack type cases out there that will work for the HPX-170?

2) Is the battery advertised on the site really quality and actually 5 times longer lasting (also does it work with the hpx170)?

3) What do you guys think every filmmaker should have in his bag at all times? After you have your basic camera what are the essentials?

Thanks for any input.

Hey Shoook,

1) The Kata backpacks are really nice. The HB-207 is the backpack of choice lately.

2) The DVXUSER batteries get a lot of good reviews by the users here and it will work with the HPX170.

3) You should have a Clear Optical Flat Filter, Circular Polarizer, A Cleaning Cloth fo rthe lens ( I would go with a Coverlens. It has your Cleaning Cloth, White Balance Charts and Focus charts and acts as a lens cover for a low cost.) Some others may be able to add to this list bit this pretty much will get you through the nitty-gritty.

Some guys were telling me it's good to get a diffuser filter mainly in order to protect the lens. What do you guys think?

Some use a UV filter, some use a clear, but I'd say to always have something in front of the lens. They have some lenses that are ultra thin so as to keep the vignetting to a minimum.
Some purists would undoubtedly have me put to death for saying such a thing, but the loss in quality is so negligible for my uses that I can't justify taking a chance on harming the lens.

Also, Kata rocks as a backpack carrier and the DVXuser batteries are phenominal, I have a pile of them.

i have a cheap $15 uv filter that i use as a lenscap because the lenshood doesnt fit well in my backpack.

Has anyone every had any trouble with a Kata 207 being too big for carry on an airplane? i'm going between the 205 and 207, I just need to make sure I can fly with it.

I just bought the Kata 207 myself and traveled in a small airplane to a regional airport with no problems.
