9CCD System

The Red could utilize in making strong color defenition using nine charged coupled devices.

Each of the three primary colors of light would be cut divided though the basic 3CCD system, but each would be distributed into another three. Each color would, by means of another division unit, be seperated into differing brightnesses for the CCD to digitalize. This way, the user would have more control over shadowing and brightness.

Just an idea.

Correction-

I said that the oncoming image would pass through a basic 3CCD system, then each color would traverse to another 3 designated CCDs.

I meant to say that the mirror system used to split the image into the three primary colors would make three beams of light that would pass through the system again, and each would fall into it's own charged coupled device (adding up to be 9CCDs), resulting in the most brilliant color capture ever known to the digital video industry.

Not to bring your idea down, but one of few solid facts about the Red camera is that it will use a single 4k CMOS bayer chip.

it's physically impossible to have a 35mm 3-chip array. There isn't enough space for the prism that allows the three colors to separate.

It's not about having a 35mm prism necessarily rather it's the distance between the prism and the image sensor that makes it impossible with the small size of the Red one. Simply, not enough distance for all the beams to separate completely from eachother.
