7D+Tokina 11-16 in rain? Zip-lock bag?

Shooting in humid/rainy conditions with the 7D and an L lens -- they seem to hold up well, but I haven't been comfortable leaving them in a downpour. Can I?

Less confident that the Tokina 11-16 is particularly weather resistant. How about a Zip-lock bag with the end of the lens sticking out? Any thoughts? Suggestions?

The Tokina definitely needs protection; however, you can take some comfort in the fact that its front element does have a weather repellent coating.
