7D rigged up for work

+1

wth?!?

yea, why take away the 7d's best feature ? mobility.

I think the point is to have something that is run n gun?

why ??

It's a benefit to have something small and easy to handle - but if "run and gun" is not necessary for a particular shot/shoot - why not have a rig setup like that?

Though, I dont know how necessary that LED light is on the camera. It looks like they've got lights already setup for the shot.

It's not a video camera!!!!
Lose the light and use natural lights. or fills. your not shooting a wedding (i hope)
Lose the mic and use a boom.
I'll give ya $50 for it.
VERY sexy though,....

I've been testing this camera...and I have to disagree.
This is very much a video camera..with super high native 35mm optics and very impressive ISO & full aperture & focus control. Makes my Brevis/HVX200 rig look bad, especially the low light side by side test footage I've been shooting.

Anyone with a film background should take a look at this rig. It's the working mans RED.

Our type of work

Our type of work

Our type of work is much more film style and motion graphics based. We appreciate the low impact (and weight) a DSLR has in body and lens only and sometimes we shoot that way, but for the most part we need and use the components on the rig above. Rarely do we have everything mounted on the camera as pictured. We mount and use what we need. If you want to check out the type of work we do....

Thanks for the interest

People make movies using their iPhones... Who cares what people consider their DSLR to be, just as long as it does what that specific person needs it to do with or without accessories.

Looks cool to me. If you need all of that then use it. If you need a stealth setup, remove it. That's the beauty of DSLR's, you can go from full setup, to shooting in an airport without permits in minutes.

I have learned that lighting is key when shooting with any camera, natural lights are great for certain shots, but having control over them to find that sweet spot when stopping down can make every shot look so much better. Basically if you can light the scene, light the scene.

Thank you. Saved me from posting an unnecessary rant about the linear-minded folks who don't see the forest for the trees :)

I got a question for you. I see you have a baseplate attached to your gripped camera and a follow focus on the rails of the baseplate and it lines up nice with your lens. Is there anytime you need a rod riser to get the follow focus up higher to integrate with the lens gears?a close up picture of the rods, followfocus and lens gears would be great!
