7D now available on UK high street

One dealer said 80ish thousand. Said it'll be available this week. But considering theyre still scraping the mud from last weekends flood, I guess theyre be delays.

In the mean time I'll stay put in the visayas.

-instead of the used car, a new motorcycle perhaps? :-)

Youre from here 13th?

Ted

Canon still service the warranty, but you have to ship it back to country of origin. This would cost about £45 from the UK to Asia. Then you may or may not get charged a return shipping fee by Canon.

Tax shouldn't be a problem as the package can be marked as an engineering sample.

So having a Japanese or Taiwanese warranty card = no problemo. I'd sooner have a spare £500 in my bank than a UK Jessops receipt!

That £2099 price is for the 18-135mm lens kit. In addition to that you get an extra battery and two 8gb CF cards worth £170 or something. (I think the battery and CF card offer ended today).
So fairly normal price compared to all the other UK retailers

I think Jessops as a high street retail presence is pretty much dead, and this is the strongest sign yet. They'll move online.

I'd urge anyone considering a 7D in the UK to buy one from eBay and have it shipped from HK, Taiwan or Japan. Canon's are international with English menus and the price of the 7D is £1100 in these regions, so even after tax you've probably saved yourself £400 on the UK 'retail' price.

I'm always worried about getting a scammer on Ebay. Anyone got any advice for buying from Japan?

Was just wondering if anyone from the UK has bought the camera from abroad? If I buy from the US will my warranty be valid in the UK.

A friend of mine is travelling around hong kong, singapore for two month...

he call me this morning to tell me that he can bring me the 7D for 900€ (instead of 1800€ here in Paris !!!!!) , In fact, the Full Frame is more atractif for me, so It's a shame that the D700X is not already on store....

because I have already Nikon lenses.

I went into a store in the UK today and was able to negotiate the price down to £1550. I still didn't purchase it as it's still nearly £500 more than it is in the US.

Interesting that they were able to lower the price though.
