C300: 7D Mk II 1080p/720p 60fps ! (rumoured) ?

Canon should not be applauded for 60p in 2014 when every other camera brand has had it for 3 plus years and have moved on to 96fps-250fps.

We don't have to applaud them to be happy it's here.

edit: and yeah, annoying that the cinema cameras aren't getting them first, but slowmo is rare enough I might just pick up a 7D mkII as a b-cam and keep it around for slowmo. cheaper than buying a C100 mk2 for slowmo

In Premiere Pro, import the C100's 60i footage, do not interpret the clip in any way, drop on 24p timeline, change speed of clip to 40%, and render a final file. To my eyes, the results look better than the crop sensor canon's shot at 720/60p. Might give the 7DMk II's 1080/60p a run for its money too.

If those specs are true, it has strengthened my resolve to move to the D7100, I'm in a holding pattern until after Photokina

Not sure what Canon is going to do video-wise.
If the 7dmk2 is going to keep up with the A7s / GH4, then they will make the 5d3 obsolete for video, and it'll be creeping in on the C100 territory.
I'm assuming Canon will want to protect the C-line cameras - therefore the 7dmk2 probably won't keep up with the A7s/GH4 image quality-wise (which for me, means I wouldn't consider purchasing it).
Who knows though - We'll see when it comes out!

If the 7D mk2 is going to get 1080p 60fps then they better update the C100/300 with 1080p 60fps...

I was ok with the C100 not having it because the C300 didn't have it, but now that it looks like the 7D MK2 is going to get it, there's no excuse now.

And its now like they have to reinvent the wheel here, AVCHD has had the capability of shooting 1080p 60fps for years. My old Panasonic TM700 had it and it's going on 4 years old now.

Agreed - Canon has to do something to not have people jumping ship to cheaper alternatives that have the same or better image quality, better low light performance, and 4K....
My C100 is fantastic for everything I do, but the competition is really putting the pressure on!

There should be less bickering about the fact that they might implement 60p, and more emphasis on the quality of how it performs. As of now the c100's 60i/slow mo tweak is slightly better quality than any of the previous dslr's. Given the fact that the 7D will have newer tech I don't see any reason why they wouldn't include it.

I would be more interested in knowing if ANY of the video modes are binned/line skipped for motion picture capture :)

The 1DC has 1080 60p at full frame, but the quality is bad. It's worse than the regular 1080p of the rest of Canon's DSLRs. My guess is that they will implement the same 60p for the 7Dmkii, but all it will do is make people complain even more about Canon since the resolution will be bad.

I'm betting Canon won't ever give the C100 60p and stick to the "There isn't enough power to do 60p" rhetoric they've busted out in the past. C150 will have all the bells n whistles that we want. And probably be $1500 cheaper than the C100... or they could for once listen to their customs and put in features they want.

But this is canon after all..

Because if you have a Canon you should be out there making lots of nickels and dimes.

Been shooting for 23 years and I haven't ran into a perfect camera. But I've made lots of money with imperfect cameras.

I frequently grumble about the lack of 1080 60 P in the C 300. My AF 100 would do 1080 60P why not the C300? That said, the C300 is one of, if not my favorite video cameras of all time and I do go back to the early 80's, so I've been to the camera rodeo lots of times. MY C series cameras have probably made me more money on a dollar for dollar basis than anything else I have owned camera wise, and I still grumble about the lack of 1080 60P.

Worry less about the specs and more about what you do with what you have.
