7D Letterbox too transparent?

Does anybody else have a problem with how transparent the letterbox is? For me, it makes it tough to frame some shots. Is there any way to make it completely black?
 
No, I LOVE the transparent letterbox for helping with boom mics, framing while objects are in motion etc. A great feature IMO and I only wish it has side zones as well.
 
Same here, absolutely love it, lets me know how much headroom I have to play with before running into something
 
Translucent black also gets +1 for me. I'm not at all being flippant or rude when I suggest using black paper tape (not gaffer tape) if you need solid black. Done more often than you think!

Definitely did that on my XH-A1 when shooting 2.35:1 on critical projects. Will do that if I ever shoot handheld with the 7D. Just gotta remember to cut a little hole for the record icon :D

While the transparent bars are good for anticipating boom mics and other framing obstacles, it can be very deceiving when shooting on the fly!

So...+1 for transparent bars and +1 for taping off the frame.
