7D / First short Test

Hi,

I sold my sony hdr-xr500 and have buy the canon 7d.

What I'm missing is:

- Steady option
- Slow motion option
- auto focus when I'm walking

Here a very short test during the breakfest:

Regarding slow-mo... shoot 720p/60 and conform it to 24 or 30 fps.

Shooting handheld with a DSLR is much trickier. You really need to get some support gear to help you steady it as you walk. Even a loupe/viewfinder can give you some added stability since you'll have the camera against your face.

Forget autofocus. Shooting with a DSLR is much, much closer to shooting tradtional film-style, which means you need to have your hand on the focus ring at all times.

Hi,

sleep: A very very old lens 28-80mm 4-5.6F

C2v: What you think here exactly:
Code:
Regarding slow-mo... shoot 720p/60 and conform it to 24 or 30 fps.
720p/60 ok but, conferm it to 24??

Conform, not conferm.

By shooting 60fps (actually 59.94), you can then play it back at (29.97) or 24fps (23.976) and get 50% and 60% speed reduction, respectively. Using something like CinemaTools, you can actually reassign the time base for the clip so that it is recognized as 30 or 24.

Shooting at 60fps gives you really smooth slow-mo at 30fps or 24fps.
