I heard that the Scarlet will make toast and wake me up with a xxx every morning. Should I send the 7D back and wait for Scarlet???

The IQ on the Scarlet is supposed to be higher. Good looks aren't everything?

As long as you are with the 7D you'll be settling. Just don't tell her that ;)
 
Just take a picture of the Scarlet with the 7D and keep it under you pillow...that's all you really need, right?

If you told us what you require from a camera, then people could weigh in and give their opinions as to whether toast making really is such a deal breaker as you make it out to be. But to be honest, I think you are overreacting. Toast?!?! I think you are being immature, and frankly a bit needy too. Why can't you be happy with the fact that 7Ds make beer runs?! I think a 7D and any Red Camera are not mutually exclusive. You can shoot h.264 with a 7D, you can shoot Rec Code RAW with a Red. Apples and oranges. If Red Code from the ISO 800 Mysterium-X can be pushed into ISO 1600 with Red looking quality the cameras will be incredibly similar, yet so very different... price is also a big factor when trying to compare cameras. Two different products.

Now if Red includes a compressed mode... I am throwing my 7D into a trash can! ;)
 
Mark, you're just not using it right. The 7D *does* make toast. You just have to leave some bread near it and leave it recording continuously until the "overheat" warning comes on... it'll get hot enough to toast your bread.

Sheesh.
 
Damnit Barry you beat me to it!

I was gonna say, try laying some bread on the sensor after shooting for a few minutes.
