7d better for feature then hvx200?

Hi Barry: Maybe focus (pun unintended) about half your book/DVD on the things that won't change for at least year or two for the majority of HD video-capable DSLR owners in the world.

Given the gazillion HDSLRs which have already been sold and which will be sold in the near-term -- many of which will hang around for a while -- we know most of the feature set for the recent & current crop of these cams.

So, if your book/DVD covers current HDSLR camera production topics -- such as selecting & working with lens, lens adapters, tripods, LCD-loupes, handheld rigs, small steadicams, external audio recorders, PluralEyes, codecs, editing software, matteboxes, and so forth -- plus the current cams themselves, it'll be mostly relevant for quite a while, relatively speaking.

My idea exactly, but the danger is: will the 7D be "yesterday's news" by the time the book or DVD is ready? Things are moving so fast in the DSLR world. The GH1 was the bees knees until the 7D was announced. The 7D was the undisputed king of the world until it was out for three days, then the complaints started. So will Scarlet, or a 1D Mark IV, or the GHX100, or something else come out in the next four months that causes a complete reboot of the user base? Ah, decisions, decisions... :)

I was about to say just that, Barry. The price is so low it's almost disposable, and since the technology is so new the rate of feature/performance expansion should be pretty quick. I don't think the 7D will be king for long.

It's not about being king it's about numbers. This market is gonna be hyper competitive soon. I think 7D will be the one that dominates in this class before the deluge of cameras "that get it right," then writting a book for one perticular cam will be like writting a book for a perticular model of Toaster. There will be just so many cameras that are usefull it will be impossible to single on out. Then the focus will have to switch from Model to generically how to use your camera as a filmmaking tool.
