7D and distribution

Theatrical or DVD?

I shot this feature (http://mandieandthesecrettunnel.com/) on and HVX200/Redrock M2 and it was released to DVD nationally last September.

The sequel begins filming in about 3 weeks and I'm using 7D as the A camera and a T2i as the B cam. Set for release this coming Fall. Hope to get a site up soon and maybe a production blog. Distribution is already in place with no arguments against the use of these cameras... looking forward to putting them through the paces!

That's cool. Yes, wondering if distributors frown on/refuse films shot with dslrs.

I'm sure it depends on the film. If it had Bruce Willis in it and a lot of explosions it could be shot on an iphone and get distribution somewhere.
Film is a business. If it can turn a profit, it will be sold.

There's a ton of paid work being done on DSLRs but let's not forget it's only been since late 2008 that the 5D mk ii shipped and only five month ago that the 7D shipped. Any camera that's capable of delivering a quality HD master has the opportunity for wide commercial distribution, and certainly DSLRs fall into that category (though it can sometimes be a rather frustrating and finicking ordeal to do so).
