Spent four hours shooting pretty pictures with the ex1 and letus extreme. I had a few technical problems but the results look good. I will post a new blog soon with the new video.
WOW man you should be selling these camera for Sony, that stuff just looks fantastic.
I have one question though. On the carosel scenes, is that the rolling shutter that I am seeing that seems to make the footage jump in a subtle fashion.
It isn't horrible it just is kind of jarring when the rest of the footage is so breathtaking.
Thanks Patrick. What time is the bit you mean about the rolling shutter?
Edit: I see what you mean. It's actually the compression of the small .mp4 to make it fast enough to download. There is a huge amount of information there. There is a 720p version but that is highly compressed too.
What size are people prepared to download for future reference?
Yeah, so I just DL'd the 720 version and the quirk is gone. I can see now that it is the compression and not the camera. It is still slightly there but almost gone. I have to say that this is some of the very best video footage that I have seen for less than 10 grand and it looks better than most I have seen above that. I think the important thing to note here is that this camera with that adapter now eliminates the visibility of video to 90% or more of any audience that would be watching a film made with this camera. Mind you that the script is still the most important part but you wont get some wiseacre saying that a film made with this cam looks low budget. I wouldn't shoot a massive scifi epic with it but if I had the budget to really shoot a massive Scifi epic I certainly wouldn't be using a sub 10k camera.
Thanks Phillip for the breathtaking footage and taking the time to give us a higher res version.
