To get a tripod is certainly a good idea - and even a cheap one is better than none. Why don't you try a Canon FD lens - such as a 50mm f1.4 - one can get those for a couple of bucks on e-bay and they a great for filming with the GH13 - in particular at low light.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've never bought anything off of E-bay. But, if I can get a Canon f1.4 lens for a few bucks, it might be time to roll the dice and try my luck on E-Bay? But, surely I would also need some type of lens adapter to mount between the GH1 and the Canon lens? I only see a few adapters listed in my GH1 manual, and none seems related to Canon FD lenses. Do you know what type of adapter is required to mate the Canon lens to the GH1?
BTW: I assume that even after using the adapter, the x2 factor stills applies, so, this would make the 50 mm effectively a '100 mm' in terms of old 35mm film cameras? That's getting to be a bit too narrow of a FOV then I would like.
What does the 'FD' in the Canon lens mean? Would the auto focus function still work with the GH1 with this Canon FD lens, or would it be strictly a manual focus lens when mounted on a GH1? And, don't worry about answering these very basic questions. I'm just thinking out loud. I can Google around and find out.
A new lens for a couple bucks? Hmmm...I really do like the sound of that.
