720pn to small quicktime?

Hi

I've shot a musicvid on the hvx200. using 720pn PAL on 25fps and 50 fps. Now i've edited it and want to upload a small sized quicktime for my hompage. Like 30 mbytes.

I use final cut pro 5.14.

My problem is i can get a nicw qt conversion if i use one of the export quicktime conversion presets with 16:9 ratio. But they are all huge. If i try to make it smaller it gets squeezed 4:3 and really nasty looking.

Does anyone have experience in this area? How do i make a small 16:9 qt out of my material.?

Which codec did you use?

That's the important issue. Was it sorenson or h.264 or what at what encodes rates, aspect ratio, etc?

Did you try creating a custom pre set in Compressor?

Important to know your workflow; as they say, we can't see it from here.

If you want to get it around 30mb, then I would suggest using the Quicktime 7 compatible h.264 download setting at 800kbps, assuming your clip is around 3 mins.

I have attached an image of the setting you need to change to output a file cropped to your 16:9 footage. it's the little icon with the shapes on it in the settings window. The setting is called "Constrain to display aspect". This changes your window size to 320 by 180, what Emiranda suggested.

It's intelligent, so if you resize one of them to the actual size you want, it changes the other field accordingly, maintaining the aspect ratio. Make sure all your frame rate settings match up too.

Hope this helped :)
