C300: 720p output

I've got a client asking for 720p output for a streaming job. I'm not seeing an option on the C300 Mark II or Arri Amira to do this. Does anyone know if this is possible on these cameras, and if not, what equipment is needed to down-covert in real time to 720p for live transmission?

Check out Blackmagic Design's Mini Converter UpDownCross HD.

I have no experience with it but about a year ago a colleague of mine had this issue and as I recall this was his solution.

Agreed, the BMD boxes are excellent and will solve Eric's issue. You'd be amazed at how much live streaming is done at 720p. We do more at 1080 and are even doing
a few in UHD, but that's mostly with YouTube Live. If you use Vimeo's Live Stream Products, (we were testing a stream for a big client last night and they have to use
LiveStream.com, which we found out could only support 720p), you are kind of stuck.

720p looks great on 4" phone screens but pretty crappy on 27" computer screens full screen. But most content is consumed on 4" phone screens these days.

+ 1 on the BMD UpDownCross. I use one of those for this express reason. Record in 1080 for later and stream live in 720 50p. Simple to drive, just make sure you download the manual for reference on the dip switch settings. No noticeable lag and output quality appears to be as good as what is going in. Won't take 4k in though. HD only. Will also convert 1080i to 720p which can be useful for some of the older 1080i only cams.

300/II and Amira do not do 720.

Decimator Designs makes great boxes. I bought their MD-DUCC(multi-definition down up cross converter) way back in the day when down-converting from HD to SD was still needed frequently for live shots. Now I’ve had to use it several times in the last year to down convert from 1080 to 720 for feeds(Really?! C’mon, this is 2020).

When’s the job? If you wanna make the trip to Road Atlanta, I’ll let you borrow it. Just ship it back to me afterwards.
