I heard this baby is coming out end of Aug, anyone has any idea how much Panasonic wants for this baby ??

Wht was the history of the P2 pricing? when they introduced the 32 gig , what happened to the price of the 16 gig and the 8 gig ?

A new card generally takes on the price of the previously existing biggest card, and everything slides down the scale

But that is certainly not set in stone.

There's no correlatable price drops due to introductions. The history, as I recall, is:

4GB introduced at $1200, 8GB introduced at $2700.
When the HVX came out, 8GB dropped to $2200, 4GB dropped to $900-ish?
Two months later, 8GB dropped to $1400, 4GB dropped to $700.
NAB, 4GB dropped to $550, 8GB dropped to $1200.

And there they stayed for a year.

NAB 2007, 4GB was discontinued, 8GB was dropped to $700, and 16GB introduced at $900.

At some point, 8GB dropped to $550.

October-ish, 32GB was introduced at $1650. 8GB was discontinued. 16GB stayed at $900.

June 2008, 16GB is still $900.

So what will happen when the 64 comes out? Frankly it's anyone's guess.

I have an uneasy feeling that the 64 gig p2 card is going to be over $2000, and maybe a drop of a few hundred bucks on the 16 and 32 gig cards.

That will hurt a lot of people...who were thinking about going P2.

Just curious.

Why is it going to hurt a lot of people?

A 64 GB p2 card will hold nearly three hours of 720/24pN.

Two years ago, a 8GB card held about 20 minutes of the same footage.

i have a feeling the 16gb cards wont go down significantly...especially not right away.

is the 64gb p2 card the biggest they are going to make or are they going to keep going higher and higher?
