60 frame recording

This will sound very stupid to a lot of people here but it's still a question. In 720p mode, you record in 60 frames mode which give you slow motion. What about 30 frames for standard recording?

1. There is a 30 fps mode. It's 1080p.
2. If you want 30 fps in 720p, you can simply drop half of the frames in your non-linear editor. The NLE should do this automatically when you insert a clip onto a 29.97 fps timeline.
3. Just to be clear, 60 fps isn't slow motion. It only becomes slow motion when you conform it to a lower frame rate. By default, the clips are set to play at 60 fps, which is super-smooth regular motion.

Thanks for linking to my video Capice ;)

Mikezip007 when you record in 60fps it will still look normal on playback until you slow it down. Those slow mo clips in my vid i slowed down to 45% in FCP. If you were to record in 30fps it would play as normal but you would just have half the amount of frames.

If you want to be able to slow down footage properly i'd recommend shooting at 60fps and not 30fps mate ;)

does the same apply if one is shooting at 24p?

meaning the main timeline is 24p, but then we could shoot 60 and make it slow motion?

doesn't have to be 60 to 30 only right?

At least one of philip bloom's videos was shot at 60p, then converted to either 25p or 24p. Really, you could do:

60 -> 30
60 -> 25
60 -> 24
30 -> 25
30 -> 24
25 -> 24

Of course, 60 -> 24 will give the greatest effect of slow motion.

My pleasure! Did you notice any heavy aliasing in your 720p60 footage?

No, none at all that I can see but I don't really know what I'm looking for :p

The camera is truly awesome though and I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking of buying one ;)
