5D MKIII specs

There's no aliasing on the power lines in the windmill vid......I had to peep :badputer:

The tests I recently did for my film with the MKII confirmed that I need this camera to shoot the 15min short of the feature. It's the only way I can shoot it how I want to with the budget that I have. Lots of available light night guerilla stuff and a candlelit scene.

I wish I had 3 Million to produce a feature film.

Sure as hell would not be shooting with a DSLR. xD Squig = for the people.

Is this feature the same as the C300?

Peripheral Illumination Correction, Chromatic Aberration Correction, and Distortion Correction
The EOS 5D Mark III features a number of corrective tools to accommodate for the particulars of the lens used. Canon's lens peripheral illumination correction feature corrects light falloff in the corner of the image. Chromatic aberration can be corrected at the time of shooting with the 5D Mark III's Chromatic Aberration Correction tool. The new Distortion Correction feature corrects distortions such as curved lines by correcting for the characteristics of the particular lens used to take the shot so images that may have been distorted in the captured image appear straight. The camera has correction data for a number of EF lenses preloaded, and new lenses can be added to the camera's database via EOS Utility. The camera can even distinguish between different lenses of the same model using the serial number (with compatible EF lenses).

To be clear, Discovery US still does not allow the use of the RED except in unusual cases.
These lists are the most silly thing I ever saw in the (TV) industry. Especially with the post processing nowadays when the proprietary codec in-camera is something from the past. You have a good workaround on here. You can copy -> paste the Zacuto shootout list and even say you shot your stuff using all those cameras there. Now, guess what shoot what! : D

I have to shoot the short before I can get the $3 million. I'm budgeting $8000 for a 15min short. Half of that is for the MKIII. I've shot almost all of the locations with the MKII and it just wasn't up to the task. The MKIII is a different story. After the short is cut I'll decide whether it is a worthy A-cam for the feature.

Yeah cool, so we can make anamorphic look un-anamorphic. I like vignetting and distortion. CA not so much but it does give things a 3D effect.

Kholi, I agree. As A-camera, Scarlet is the best bang for the buck. The anti-RED sentiment I read sometimes on these boards (founded by JarRED Land BTW) is as much silly as the most extreme fanboyism I see on reduser at times.

Speaking of shootouts, if you unknown reader have doubts, see it by your own eyes if you don't know it already or don't bash RED please (do a favor to yourself), going later than minute 10 or about:

Or minute 20 on this one:

It is not a Scarlet, but it is the previous model.

I don't have the patience for RED for a day let alone 3 months on location!

Haha, love it! Well, at least there are improvements. =)

I understand Jim's aggressive marketing has been counterproductive for a lot of people, but c'mon the guy based a digital cinema camera from the scratch with the success we know. Who else?

I want to know the company will not vanish when the next international crisis will come up, ala Dalsa.

Squig based on that information I'd be renting a C300 for the short.

Only problem with that is-
A it looks like a video camera so there's stealth factor guerilla shooting issues.
B it could get destroyed or flogged.
C I wanna see how far I can push the MKIII and myself.
D not much time to prepare, do tests, and familiarise myself with a new camera. The MKIII is just a MKII on roids. no learning curve.
E got a story to tell and don't really give a sh.. about pixels.
F I think the MKIII will look just as good anyway.

I wanna find out what the story is with FCPX support for this ALL-I codec. We're going to be rough cutting on location so it would be nice not to have to transcode to prores. What are the chances Apple and Canon have their sh.. together?

If you ever see 5K projected @ 2K, digital projection... it's cliche to say, but the "looking through a window" thing is pretty accurate. Truly face melting. And not in the harsh digital sort of way, just "clearly life like" sort of way. It's incredible. I'm curious to see a 4K projection now.

It will definitely make you not want to shoot anything else, well... if you're susceptible to pixel-envy.

What great times we live in. Content is dead. Long live the resolution experience.

is that for real? Amazing if true!

One of the reasons, some people love to own rather than to rent -- an industry's dogma after all as any other dogma :-)

The lack of 1080p videos and the presence of highly compressed 720p ones is a very bad sign.
Panasonic should make a APS-C GH3
Still thinking they made a new mk2 without moiré but same 720pish resolution, yuck!
