5D MKIII specs

:thumbup::thumbsup:
I am bummed! - From the DPReview article:

"The video output specifications are essentially unchanged in terms of resolution and framerate (1080p30 maximum), but Canon says the processing is improved to minimise moiré and other artefacts, and has included the higher quality All-I and IPB interframe compression options introduced with the EOS-1D X. What you don't get though, is the uncompressed output over HDMI seen in the latest Nikon models."

Boo Hiss...

I would rate this the first official complaint since the announcement.

The question for a would be "mkII upgrader" like me is, IS THIS BETTER THAN 5D MKII+VAF5D2+ML UNIFIED ?

hhmmmm..... my lips are sealed...

Still only 3 custom picture styles can be installed on the camera.

Also, focusing in video is detailed as...
Canon Official Specs Sheet:
"Focusing (Video)
Same as focusing with Live View shooting

* During movie shooting or if movie cropping has been set, the image cannot be magnified for manual focusing."

Can someone on here give me a rock-solid estimate of bitrate (Mbps) based on a 16 gig card holding 22 minutes?

OK Peter, now you got your right to the podium ;)

Any word on clean HDMI?

I'm afraid I'll need to get both: D4 and this piece...

(I'm not Peter and I know you're not asking me....) However....

NAH.....Canon knows (just like Nikon did) that HDMI is a big deal. They would have put it IN BOLD LETTERS so everyone knew. The fact that they didn't says it all.....(I could be wrong, as I am frequently....) My 2 cents.

You are not Peter but you are not wrong, unfortunately. C300 ruled over here. Maybe later, who knows? But Nikon rules from now on though. Pity for the Canon glass. Even the Tokina 11-16mm fits on FF at 16mm side. More, some profiles such as Technicolor... Therefore, my eventual 5DIII purchase too anyway. If it is a must to have a 5DII, this one won't be less I'm afraid. This 5D is already an industry standard :P

Wow, timecode and a headphone jack? Exciting. 720 at 60p? Exciting. A t2i can do that.

And they raise the price to 3500? Image-wise I'm sure it's going to beat the AF100. But for 3500, I'd rather have the built-in NDs, XLRs, headphone jack and 1080 60p of the AF100 with it's lower image quality. Not impressed by these specs at all unless the image is mind-blowing.

When will we see footage?

I shoot a ton of video on a 5D but don't personally own one. I've been wanting to pick one up but now I'm torn because it looks like the only difference between the mii & miii is the processor. Am I missing something here?
autofocus (9 against 61-point besides tracking) is a major difference. Like a WWI vs WWII airplane.

hhmmmm..... my lips are sealed...

Well it has-

60p 720p
a better codec
better high ISO perf - 2 stops
less rolling shutter
weatherproofing
headphone jack and adjustable recording level in live view

for me it comes down to-
is the codec good enough?
is aliasing/moire acceptable?
is rolling shutter acceptable?

I also want a dynamic range and high ISO boost.

If it can't compete with a hacked GH2 or FS100 then fogetaboutit. The D4 is looking good but aliasing/moire is still a ?
