5D Mark II & NEX-5N Comparison

Low-light, natural lighting test with Canon 5D Mark II & Sony NEX-5N. No color-grading, straight out of the camera. I tried to get it as close as I could in-camera. Can you guess which is which?

Canon 5D Mark II: Cinestyle Preset, 50mm f1.8, ISO 100
Sony NEX-5N: Portrait Preset, 28mm @ 44mm (1.6 crop factor) f1.8, ISO 100

Conclusion: 5D has better overall image quality but Cinestyle preset is much noisier and much more susceptible to banding. 5N is a bit more saturated and a tad sharper. Both cameras produce a nice image.
 
Paying almost $700 for a Sony Nex-5n seems like a waste of money to me. Heck you can probably get a gh2 body only for that kind of money. Second we all know Canons are really not sharp, but mnay people agree that they love the soft creamy look of those cameras especially when using vintage lenses.

So I ask myself, why would someone buy a Sony NEX-5N?

1. Portablility. With the right lens, this thing is pocketable. That's a big deal for me and the other "pocketcinematographers".
2. 1080/60P with a large sensor. The HX9 is 1080/60P, but on a much smaller sensor.
3. SUPER CLEAN low-light. Shame that they capped video at ISO3200 (or is it 6400?) But still it's VERY clean
4. Still photos are best in class. Especially for something that can fit in your pocket. So this is an incredible hybrid cam.

That's my interest. If the GH2 were as small, I'd buy it. It can't fit in my pocket, so that's the difference for me. Cheers! I hope this helps!
