I managed to get 5D Field Of View from my 550D but ive got chromatic aberration,im using just plano-convex lens ,i guess it must be bigger or i need achromat to fix this.
Here is 50mm with original 1.6 crop in the corner (and its size shown by rectangle in the middle).As you can see its quite badly soft on sides but as i thought its doable with right glasses ,i dont have much to experiment with but if someone would like to get 5d FOV from their 7Ds or 550Ds then go on,it is possible.
Here is picture from the same distance,i just removed "adapter" for the corner shot.
So the part with TV which is pasted is from original 1.6 crop on my 550D from 50mm lens.
Here is the same lens without pasted crop,taken from the same distance:

Any ideas what could fix this ,maybe someone could give it a try,i just moved my lens away from sensor a bit and i have plano-convex in front of my lens.
I think we could work on this together ,its nice to have full frame on 1.6 crop factor cams and i wondering why nobody gave it a try if its possible.
Well.. if full frame without chromatic aberration wont be possible even with achromat then APS-H like in 1D IV crop should be doable.
I know that sides look bad but middle looks kinda OK ,i know that there are some problems with chromatic aberration in 35mm adapters ,i dont have any achromats to try if it would help.
