Quick 5min piece a friend and I through together over the weekend about a former gang member/felon who must put down his best friend, a 3 legged pit bull. Still getting the hang of these cameras so the shooting is a little rough. Very excited about what can be done with the camera once I learn what the heck I'm doing.

Dir + Edit: Eliot Rausch
Photography: Luke Korver + Matt Taylor
Music: Big Red Machine/ Justin Vernon + Aaron Dessner

All handheld
Lenses: Canon 17-55 IS, Opteka 85mm, 16-35L, 50mm L, Canon 50mm USM, Vari-ND filter for roof shots.

I got a sudden allergy attack while watching this one... some kind of irritation to my eyes. :)

Great storytelling and I love the style.

That was excellent.

I didn't catch why he was putting the dog down. I assume it was some kind of cancer but it was never said.

Brought back memories of having to do the same thing to my girl Jasmine this time last year.

Again, VERY well done.

Again, VERY well done.

He had to be put down because the cancer had spread and the dog was having trouble breathing, going to the bathroom, etc, pretty much suffering all day everyday. He looked good the day we filmed because so many people were around that he was excited to see which seemed to give him energy.

As sad as the day was, Jason the owner, really seemed relieved once the dog had passed. I think he was feeling the dogs pain + the nervousness of going through something as traumatic as that. You can see another piece on Jason HERE.

PS: Jasmine is adorable. its a shame they only live so long.

Understood.

Jasmine had cancer in her upper jaw and also didn't show the pain at all. Dogs can hide that stuff so well, all they want to do is be around you.

They really do teach us a lot, if we will only see.

Thanks again.

That was incredible. I'm not a pet person, but this guy's voice...the images...everything just came together to create such an emotionally touching piece.

I agree that I didn't for a second care what it was shot on - I was too lost in the story,
