hum.
The FS700 was always the camera a lot of people could afford .... but now ....
7Q + FS700 reording option for Raw + many SSDs when u want to record a lot of highspeed or 4k = ur are very fast at 5000$
When u get with the Sony Hardware Upgrade (prices of 300$ floating around) and Firmware Upgrade (maybe for free) the additional 10bit and 4.2.2 output ... and can immediately with a 800$ recorder (most of the people already have on) do ProRes 4.2.2 10bit with Slog2 .... who cares for RAW????
I thought the 7Q was THE thing on NAB but now its a mixed feeling with those prices. Check the Atomos Blade (also OLED and ProRes Recording for 1000$)
If its just that "RAW thing" for the FS700 users its to pricey in comparison in my opinion.
OK ...Let's see what we be able to get and for how much:
1. "The Adventures of Odysseus"
Monitor- Recorder Odyssey7Q $2295
SSD 480GB - $1200 ( X 2 = $2400)
using with FS700 $1495
----------------------
$6190
and we DO NOT GET 4K RAW, only 2K RAW and 4K Uncompressed up to 30 fps ( not even 60fps )
==============
Promised Sony Update:
HXR-IFR5 interface unit $2000 ?
AXR-R5 RAW Recorder $5350
AXS-512S24 512Gb Memory Card $1800 X2=$3600
AXS-CR1 card reader $550
============================
Total:$9700 with 1 card or $11500 with 2 cards
..but we will have:
1. 4K 16 bit linear RAW at 24p/30p/60p, with 4 seconds of 120fps recording in 4K
2. 2K 16 bit linear RAW at 24p/30p/60p,120p, 180p, 240p for unlimited time
3. AVCHD simultaneous recording at 24p/30p/60p
------------------------
Blackmagic Production Camera 4K - $4000 ( in JULY )
( First camera with 6G-SDI output )
1. Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 4K at 3840 x 2160 up to 30fps and 1920 x 1080 up to 60fps
2. CinemaDNG 4K RAW at 3840 x 2160 up to 30fps and 1920 x 1080 up to 60fps
3. Global shutter !!!
and ALL you have to buy for using BMPC is a STANDARD SSD-disks !!! - as many as you want !
( I pre-order BMPC camera, so I'll have it in July
( ..even Aaton Penelope Delta using STANDART SSD-drives in 4-SSD DeltaPack ... )
------------------------
All this remind me old story of so called "ZIP"-DRIVES .. 100 MB each
...tomorrow more cameras and recorders will step into 6G-SDI and this "The Adventures of Odysseus" will be obsolete
