4K Samsung NX 1 now available for pre-order

It's become obvious to me that lots of people will never be pleased with the offerings of todays modern digital camera. So I suggest to those very people to just give up and stop making images or plop down the cash for an Alexa.

Thank you.

Super 35mm, clean, sharp, good skin tone, little rolling shutter, 4K for $1500. GASP but look at that blown highlight in the hat!

+1 dusty, if people want a 14 stop camera with color gamut wider than film go out and buy an f55 or alexa for 30k+, we're talking about a 1500 bucks camera, hilarious.

PS i like what i saw so far - great skintones in that clip before, work out a good profile and there you have a great A or B cam. Easy to adapt lenses too!

Well if you stopped jumping up and down and yelling "look at me" and just looked around you may find that many people here have a great affection for their lowly cameras, me included. Not everything that's released these days has to be liked. That's just plain silly.

Honestly, the people "jumping up and down" are the ones that find any reason to dislike a camera based on a handful of EARLY compressed video examples (especially when shot at night of all things) online. "Look at me! I don't think the 3 or 4 videos online look good!!! I want $50,000 worth of performance for $1500!".

Not sure about you, but I find having the ability to run alongside the $50,000 cameras with a $1500 is quite amazing. I want YOU to imagine this camera and specs just a mere 5 years ago. How much would it have cost? Now you can buy this tech at Bestbuy of all places! And guess what? You aren't even forced to buy it! How cool is that? Hell, you can even have one delivered to you next day through Amazon!

Lowly cameras? I don't think cameras can be "lowly" anymore. Photographers however?????......

Lowly in relative price......

I just spent a month in South East Asia running around with only a GH4, an SLR Magic 10mm lens and an ND filter, shooting what I and others consider amazing 4K footage, all 220+ GB of it. Never thought in my lifetime that such a thing would be possible.

I applaud Samsung for what they are doing, and have done so quietly since they entered this side of the business.

But similar to my dislike of Sony's color science, I'm not finding the same sort of love for the NX1. Doesn't make me petulant and doesn't make the camera bad. It's quite possible that if I had one for a few days, it would reward with some very decent footage.

Yes, these are early days, but I had already come around to the GH4 at the same point in it's development cycle and have not for one second been disappointed. It's an emotional thing on top of everything else.

Maybe I can help you here Stone...
Instead of looking for the faults in a camera, look for their advantages. Finding fault in everything will just hold you back, always. Finding perfection in anything will never exist.

Congrats with shooting for a month in Asia with a camera capable of internal 4K that cost you less than a mortgage payment and didn't take 7 pelican cases full of gear to support. Just a year ago that was not even an option.

Wanna know what else is a platitude? Dissing a cameras performance based off a handful of compressed web examples from a wide range of shooting styles and subjects. All without ever having used one in person.

That's not a platitude. Mine is an opinion and one that you can safely ignore without your world collapsing.

Platitude - flat, dull, or trite remark, especially one uttered as if it were fresh or profound (http://dictionary.reference.com)

And since when has disliking something become dissing? It's not like the camera is your sister for heaven's sake......

Confusion happens with what is technically proven to be possible, and what is economically possible.

Well, all chatter between our members aside, this camera is going to be mighty good for videos and stills and so far I am liking what I am seeing. A few months ago I was going to buy a GH4, after owning the GH1, 2 and 3, and for technical reasons I couldn't at the moment. Something told me to wait, because a great new camera was coming. It was just a hunch, I said to myself what company in that category was going to announce anything new that compared to the GH4? Then Samsung dropped the news. At Photo Plus I had a chance to play with it and it looked great. Now wait a little longer.
