Re: Olympus vs Panny lenses - are you saying the Olympus lenses are better made and the Panny rely more on in camera compensation? If so, is this true of even their Leica branded glass?

Panasonic MFT lenses aren't even hardly the same lenses on a different camera. I have Panasonic GH cameras and a few Panasonic MFT lenses and there is SO much internal correcting being done in-camera that when I put those lenses on non-Panasonic cameras I thought there was something wrong. Yeah, it was REALLY noticeable.

So, for those using LR/PS on video: a few years ago there was a problem with flicker. IIRC, it was caused by a few specific sliders: you had to leave them at zero or change to a different ACR algorithm or something like that in order to eliminate the problem. Is this fixed in newer versions?

Back many moons ago when I studied VFX in college we would sometimes use filmstrip. Such a pita. Then Commotion came out and we never looked back. Man those were the days when even a standard definition comp required ram preview. The fact that I can now paint on 4k frames with a free copy of Fusion is just mind boggling. We have really come a long way in 20 years.

That's an understatement. The radical changes from the Umatic top loader days when I started to today would have been mind boggling back then. Back them buying a camera with an honest 700tv lines of resolution was a more than $100K prospect, now you can get a somewhat honest 4K (UHD) out of a $70 action cam.

IIRC, you have to change the camera calibration process to '2003'.

I cannot wait to see a full spec list from this new pocket camera. I am currently trying to sell my 2.5k model in hopes to add this to my arsenal. Selling will be tough though :crybaby:

Damned good question. I remember that. You get everything right and then move one thing and boom, all gone.

I’m not so sure he was talking literally when he said “shoot yourself”. I think he meant you can shoot with this “by yourself” whereas a larger Ursa Mini / UMP camera generally wants more support and crew. “With others”

JB

Then why mention at all the button on the front for while shooting yourself one handed? Seems clear to me what his intended meaning was.

Every ENG camera I have ever owned(2x Betacam's, tape VariCam & 2x P2 VariCam's) has had a record button on the front of the camera. My C300 also has a record button on the front(albeit on the wrong side).

That may be, but I doubt any camera manufacturer put two record buttons on the front within 1.5" of each other where the one for self capture is farther away than the main record button. I really would have liked to have heard the design discussions that came to that decision.

C'mon..
Essami posted a cued link..did you watch it?

Super strange indeed!

Which is a pity!! As I wish that statement wasn't so strange.... because if it had a flip out screen it might be a perfect camera for me and my vlog! (all there is left to add would be IBIS, as of course the vlog is handheld)

I think that was a talking point they must have discussed internally and it somehow stuck in his mind. It seems to me he's trying way too hard to cajole vloggers and selfie enthusiasts into believing that this camera is a great self-shoot solution, when clearly it isn't! Kind of funny, actually.

I'm not surprised in the least at the statement because he's wearing a sales hat. Think of all the marketing hype about cameras over the years that we naturally filter out as fluff. This is another one of those examples IMHO.

Could it get a flip out/over screen in the production version? Maybe this is foreshadowing a change in the production run.

Flip out screen? URSA have it and it is nir fully functional..what are you guys expect for this money? I had fix screen on BMPCC and now on BMMCC I miss it much..fix screen is ok and completely usable.. I like the picture quality.. Hardly waiting to get one!!
