40Mbps AVCHD High Reliability Patch

This is pretty confusing because...

This is pretty confusing because...

there have been different versions of the hack and phases in settings.

My understanding is (even with the latest version) there are alternatives. I ticked the first box "version increment" only the first time I hacked. I also ticked "prevent version compare" that first time. I continue to tick "prevent version compare" but not the first one: "version increment" each additional time I revise the hack. But I do raise the hacked firmware: GH1__134.bin, GH1__135.bin and so forth.

I hope this is one of the right ways of doing it. It does work, and shows version 0.0 of the firmware.

Thanks for the replies.

Isn't the point of the "prevent version compare" patch to prevent you from having to continually up the version? I know I've used the same version that's only one above stock many times.

If you prefer, you can delve into the individual patches in the PTool INI file I've provided and alter any of them to suit your needs. Regardless of which combination of patches you use, the GH1 should report its patched version number as 0.0.

The Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch INI file sets Version Increment to one, along with the Prevent Version Compare patch. This combination of patches allows you to revert back to the original Panasonic firmware and reinstall the patch any time you like.

You can download the Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch INI file here:

This is correct. You save in increments mainly so you won't overwrite the original firmware, and perhaps you have different firmware versions that enable different features.

I was just wondering how this was working out. I know Lpowell mentioned that he was going to look into it also.
I combined cbrandin's suggested Overall Bitrate settings in a Native 24p modification of the Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch, and tested it on some dense foliage. Unfortunately, I found that Native 24p was still unreliable, and got SD card write-speed failures on two out of six recording attempts. These negative results were confirmed by cbrandin in the following post:

http://dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=2102387&postcount=45

At this point, the Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch looks to be as close to optimal as I know how to make it.

Following up on cbrandin's research, I've been doing further testing on my 50Mbps AVCHD Fast Action Patch. Check the following link for updates and an improved version of that patch's PTool INI file:

And, thank you Isaac_Brody for finally clarifying my increment dilemma.

hi. i think i manage with the hack. thx ipowel for the patch. i have panasonic GF1.

i have some questions. i have to say that i didn't used class 10 sd card , just ultra 2 sandisk class4. anyway it works like an charm.

after hack i didnt found in the menu option for filming in 25 pal... i found only the video out option ( ntsc or pal ) but this it;s not same thing.

and ...but this i think its normal... at version body it's version 0.0 .

plese help me to find in the menu that option with pal mode... sound like an silly question..but i really can't find her.

one more thing.. some strange thing happened : i cannot shoot in avchd. when i've try to record in avchd mode... an warning messages appears on screen : " cannot record due to incompatible format ( ntsc/pal) on this card ) whats wrong?????? .. i mention that in motion jpeg it works.. with my ultra 2 sandisk sd card ( class 4 )

thank you in advance.

ok. i found what i missing. so ive manage with all from my last post.

after checking my footages..i found that only avchd was filmed in pal, 25 frames..even the output mode it was set in pal..my mjpeg ( mov ) files was filmed in 30fps ntsc . why?

about bit rate some strange things happened too.. in QT info file for mjpeg i saw 33.66 Mbit/s data rate... but in premier , same file, in properties i saw Average Data Rate: 4.0 MB / second... so i'm confused

for avchd , in premier, Average Data Rate: 923 KB / second

please somebody can tell me what i missing .... all those are because i use only class 4 card ( sandisk ultra 2 ) ?

thank you

Difference between Mbit and MB(byte). Byte has 8 bits.

Brian, could you elaborate on you setup, filming process, lights, etc? the film looks great,
have you shot it with Mjpeg, or AVCHD?

Hi there, I'm going to use these settings for a TV documentary.

I'll post here new videos made with it.

I'll tried different settings, those are the best I think.

Cheers !

I hope hack work continues on the GH1...

I hope hack work continues on the GH1...

because, though nothing is yet really clarified on the GH2, I don't see enough advantage to upgrade. People are already talking about dropping their GH1s based on speculation which means the availability of the GH2 will be limited. I'm sure it will be a nice camera but it will be a while before it is reviewed, and all the bugs are worked out.
