35mm adapter rant.....

if youre a photographer you know how to controll it for aesthetic effect. if youre an idiot it will look like crap. LEarn study work. thats all that will help you.

I kinda just asked that in the Cinematography forum lol.

Yeah Kholi - but you didn't ask "how can I get good dof" - you asked how you could control your DOF.
That's the difference between not learning enough to ask the right questions - and knowing enough to know what question to ask.

BIG difference.

Ah, I didn't read the whole thread... there is no "good" depth of field. Depth of field is just a term that means how far the focus goes... I'm sure that's not the exact scientific meaning, but that's basically it...

Thanks for clarifying that, as well as continuing this :furious3: thread.

I think the whole depth of field theory is more than adequatly explained in the BG dvx book that comes WITH the camera. I know for me, five minutes after reading that I never had to ask such silly questions on dvxuser

Just think, years ago people would've killed for cameras that shot deep focus right out of the box.

Yeah, funnily enough, I saw a Soderbergh interview once where he actually said the wider DOF on HD cameras was a plus, as he's lost one too many film shots to poor focus.

yea fater watching the insane focus pulling on "Eternal sunshine" there is not reason for a film to be out of focus. pay attention tot he first 10 minutes of that film. the Puller is a genius.
