I have the jag35.com adapter with a canon lens I got form my friend and I added step-down rings to attach it to my DVX100.

when i zoom in so there isn't any black around the screen it goes out of focus and won't focus, but when I zoom out a little it will focus and I can get the picture I want.

My question is how can I fix this? i'd like to get a good picture with this.

thank you

I'm new to lenses, all I have is the step down rings, the jag35 and the canon lens attached to the jab35.

can you go more in depth about the achromat lens and what all it does?

thank you

The achromat lens is a magnifying lens that will make the image larger on the GG, so that you done get the black edges, and it's easier to focus on. There's millions of thresds on dof adapters, look under search:)

I would have assumed the Jag unit had the achromat built in - that 2" stack of step-downs may be your problem. Also, needing that many rings suggests that the adapter you bought is made for a much smaller camera & lens.

Get a cheap achromat of ebay. Connect a ring on the JAG that works on the achromat, and on the other side a ring that goes from the achromat to your DVX. Simply see the achromat as a macro lens that allows you to get extremely close to an object and still be able to focus on it. In this case, the ground glass in your adapter.

You shouldn't need an achromat with the DVX100 if you get rid of that HUGE stack of stepdown rings! Get a 72mm to whatever size the JAG35 adapter thread is (52mm if I remember right?). That'll bring the ground glass closer to the DVX100 lens where you can use more of it's close focusing strengths at a shorter focal length.

+1

ONE 72mm to (whatever the JAG is) should do it.
