28mm prime options?

Hi Folks,

I've made the jump from letus/camcorder to 7D.

I have a 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8 and a 135 2.8 (all pre-ai nikkors) and they have served me well on the end of the letus. However the move to 7D and the resulting 1.6x jump in focal length I am feeling the lack of something in the 'real' 28mm area.

Looking at the Tokina 11-18 it would seem to fit the bill... but I wonder if there anything 'vintage' that I am missing.... nikkor preferably.

Well, with the 1.6 crop, you would need a 17.5mm lens to have the same angle of view. I know that Nikon made lenses in the 18mm and 20mm focal length. I just bought a 24mm 2.8 manual Nikor lens off of ebay and I am still waiting for it in the mail. Of course that would have the angle of view closer to 38mm for FF sensors, so I am hoping that it will be a general purpose "Normal" lens, a little on the wide side. From what I have been seeing the wider Nikon primes are avaialble, but the manual ones are not that fast (f3.5 or f4) and the fast auto focus ones are a tad expensive (for me, at this time). I personally am wanting to get the Tokina 11-16 for wide stuff. I have not seen anything available that is as fast, as wide and as cheap and still has good reveiws. I am also getting some longer vintage Nikon manual primes, but I am not sure if they will match cut for cut with modern lenses, we'll see. I think I will have to make some interesting aesthic choices, lens wise, by having them.

Here is the Wikipedia article on Nikon F mount lenses.
