24f Modes

Camcorderinfo is hardly the definitive source for camera news. I believe the 10-15 % res loss was already independently confirmed, but I have a lot of trouble believing the quoted 25% value from this article. It makes no sense when they said that 24F looks less sharp when compared against a "true" 24p image. 24p image from what camera? All we know is that it's a "much pricier" cam, so of course it would be sharper. Not an apple to apple comparison at all.

In my XHA1 vs. HVX article, I put up a side-by-side clip of 24F vs. 24P. I dare anyone to tell the difference.

24F is not true progressive scan, and it does result in lower vertical resolution than 1080/60i from the same Canon. With true progressive scan you'd expect to get slightly higher resolution, not lower.

However, it makes no real practical difference, the end result is footage that looks and feels like 24P footage.
