1st video posted...

Yearning to see more footage, as already said from outdoor shots...
This is very impressive....wants to see more :-)

By the way, I'm glad to see that there is an other swiss guy on this forum. Hy Daniel, I'm from Lausanne, RED #336

Just saw the video... really looks wonderful... I can't wait to see outdoors footage in 2k!
uh... red guys... didn't want to come to the sunny spain to test the camera? I'll pay the wine! (red, of course)

i never knew how dirty my monitor was until I moved the video and all the grain stayed on my screen... time to call the maid!

I usually just read. Not very good at posts, because I am the newest newbie you've never seen.

I am thrilled at what this camera is going to do. It will change everything.

The detail is beyond explanation. All day I've been showing the output of this marvel to people who ask questions like "what kind of film does it use?", and even these poor folks can see that this is like nothing they have ever seen.

As entertaining as this one thread has been, even more entertaining is all of the criticism and skepticism that has been written all over the internet over the last months about Red. I can almost hear the retractions and "yeah but s" being posted now.

I wonder what Digital Crow tastes like?

Congrats to the Red Team.

Hey thanks Jim for the cooool footage !
Next time I'd love to see some real world outside footage w/ lots of vivid colours
Show us more !

Forget outside shots. I'll take the girls smoking cigars...

I'm hoping for the watch shot at some point - 2K+. I'm betting it won't be first, but that's a shot I want to see at some point.

Ah, Can't believe I missed this

Downloading from Jarred's link now, ~440KB/s, looks like my wait won't be so painful ;) (little over 4mins total)

For all of the hosility I've seen toward RED in other places over the last few weeks
other places?.. sorry me but i'd bet coming from a sole one.. that cinematography.com forum and period..

i hope this is nothing.. uncorrected dead pixels, etc whatever.. i'm not an engineer.. anyway because of that and because i've my money there, can i have a clear-up please? thx

yeah i read that before when the first pics were posted.

but i'd like to know how this can be easy fixed.. if so.. well, i believe so.. but i'd hear a technical explanation as well.. not just believers like myself..

Doesn't exactly encourage you to publish early material from the camera. No matter how many times you repeat "there's no color correction, black level not set, no dead pixel correction" somebody _always_ asks "why are the blacks grey? why are there dead pixels?? Did I pay a thousand bucks for this!!" Pisses me off...

Guys, one thing to remember is that this camera shoots raw, uncorrected images. You want (slightly) flashed blacks and muted highlights. If the image looked sharp and punchy coming out of the camera, that would be a sign of low dynamic range. The utterly flat look of the Red samples posted so far are actually the best news about the camera yet. You'll be able to color correct these images to look however you wish. To get some experience with this kind of image, you can play with RAW shots from a DSLR in Photoshop Camera RAW or Adobe Lightroom. Compare the settings you like with the "linear" presets to see how radically you can (and must) process raw images to get a pleasing picture.

I know many of you know this but I just thought I'd toss in my few cents and express my delight with the sample images and Quicktime. Keep up the good work guys.

this is a prototype unit.. at least on my book, this isn't even a problem if explained..

i saw those hints and before my post i tried to read if someone referred it but nope.. that's why i posted in order to get a helpful explanation.. me thinks this communication between both sides of the business (provider <-> customer) is new and very welcome.. i'm pleased..

if well explained can be a positive push to any doubts.. who doesn't owe = doesn't have fear.. it's a good sign..
