I am trying to record directly to HDD (not firestore, but laCie). In the 1394 Control menu I have set it to EXT. I hooked up my LaCie drive via firewire but constantly get a "1394 inital error" on the screen. Has anyone else tried this or had this problem? Can I even do this?

You cannot record directly to a bare hard drive.
FS-100 is the only current solution to that.
