Hey great to see a new member!

I kinda liked this short film - great camerawork, and even better editing! However, i felt that the acting was a bit weak at parts, and also the sound wasn't always good. The sound design was great though, it was just the dialogue that tended to get a bit soft as compared to the rest - Especially in the scene where he answers the phonecall about the ransom money. The editing was great, but personally i didn't like it. Too many fast cuts for me, although it seemed to fit the mood of the whole piece, i just didn't really like to see 50 cuts a second.

All in all it really shows your talent for this stuff, and i hope to see more from you in future.

Hey welcome. I loved this film.

What I liked: Great filmwork, great composition, Editing was 100%, lighting looked nice.

What bugged me: The Like malcolm said, the acting was a bit weak, like when they guys were discussing "Where smy money" The guy with the sunglasses was a bit poor. The other guy who had to save his family was really well acted.
Sound. I think you could have added some back ground music on the chase scenes, don't you think? It would make it more fun to watch. The audio from the actors were a bit poor at times.

I would submit this to a film festival, you did a really good job overall!

loved the cinematography.... what did you use to edit it? how do you get those awesome effects?

Plot

Plot

So get me if I'm wrong but the plot of the story is about a guy who is trying to get his family out of jail but fails because he shoots a bad guy who doesn't pay, then he gets shot and his spirit forces the other bad guy to shoot himself? I watched it once and like the shots and pacing! Just curious about the actual story?

Right on. That "Thing" is a visual representation of the evil side of his anger after he snaps and goes over the edge. Basically, it's cognitive dissonance that takes him over.

Filmed on a DVX100A.

Filmed in 2 days, 3 hours each day.

Those weren't actors, they were some of my friends. The guys with the sunglasses is my friends dad that had to sub in at the last moment.

I liked the direction and editing of the film. I thought it was really good. The acting was just a little weak though and I noticed that the guy that killed himself racked a round in the chamber of the gun too many times before he actually shot. He racked a round I think when he was running to his friend, racked another round when turning one of the corners and then racked another one once he entered the building. I may have been the only one to notice that though, so no biggie.

Good job! Keep up the good work. Oh, credits were way cool too.

Style over substance. It has a real cool look to it, and a nice location, but the script/acting/dialog shut it down. I'd say either put more effort into the story/performances, or disregard them completely and have it be non-stop action.

Ha, I'll agree that style was certainly put over substance.. although, this is over 2 years old, but I figured up put it up here just to see if anyone else had more opinions about it

it looked good to me very proffesional in my opion some one can hand you some money and you can make and direct a good film i liked the style it added flavor to your cooking per say and as far as acting goes they were just friends not proffesional and i know many of us have seen just as good or worse acting in any straight to video actiiom films so if your handed some class A actors then the acting be fine the acting is the least your proplems this somthing that you couldnt control you worked with who you had for the job most important was your camera work and direction and editing and it looked proffesional enough good job DirectorB keep up the good work and thanx for sharing your film look forward to see more your work and by the way what editing program did you use ??????? and did you use any lighting for the idoor scenes ??????? and if so what did you use ??????

It can be fun to watch stuff you did in the past and try to gauge how much your style has changed. I know the stuff I did 3 years ago looks like absolute junk compared to what I'm doing now (which is merely garbage =) ).

I agree, Darko

Mark, Sony vegas 7 was used for editing. There was a simple clamp light used for the indoor scenes. The outdoor scenes are fully unlit. (Although extensive digital tweaking was done to them)
