100 Yen: The Japanese Arcade Experience

we're up to $5500! Well over half our goal of $9000 which is fantastic!

Almost time to head to the Calgary cup this coming weekend. Its gonna be intense!

Hey Moojangles,

Just saw this on Kotaku. Bravo and keep up the good work. I'm in Japan myself and would love to volunteer my services, but alas, I'm a newbie at this film thing. It's a great topic and I can't wait for it to be finished.

Thanks GHK, where abouts in Japan are you located? In just over 2 weeks we are now only $210 away from our $9000 goal! I am so shocked and honoured!

I never thought we would get this good of a reception. We'll be offering all kinds of great incentives to continue to contribute! Canada Cup this weekend with some great interview potential!

Thanks for checking out the project and check back shortly to see some great updates.

I'm on the eastern side of Hiroshima prefecture. Looks like you guys are filming mainly around Tokyo?

Hey Brad,
great to see this project coming alive, although there are already some good docus on Japanese arcades there can never be enough :)
The arcades you cover are quite familiar to me, although I live in Hong Kong. If you think a two camera shoot might be giving your production more value message me. Has been too long for me since my last Tokyo trip. Wondering how you shot the arcades, guerrilla style or asking for permission.

Thanks Marc,

We will have quite a bit more of a crew when we return to Japan this spring including Lighting and a couple of camera operators. For the most part we will have permission to film in the locations for this trip but in Japan as you probably know it can be quite the issue to shoot anywhere. Especially with a tripod etc... the rule is usually as soon as your camera touches the ground you need a permit.

We will definitely do some guerrilla style stuff as it is simply a necessity when filming in Japan but we are in talks with SEGA at the moment to see how much can be done. As well as the owner of a chain of Arcades within Japan, hopefully we can get unfettered access giving us the ability to really get great material.

I am definitely planning on getting a 60D though as I imagine the flip out screen with help a lot.

Yes I'm aware of the shooting situation, it's just the same in Hong Kong. I wish you good luck for the project and if you need some more help after all I would be willing to work pro bono if you can get me a ticket over to Tokyo and accommodation. :)
