10" 1024x600 monitor with battery and HDMI input for your upcoming GH2, $130 only

This monitor has small issues with EDID as mentioned in my review.
I hope that they'll be able to fix it in unpoming updates.
As for 5D. It has issue with switching resolution upon record, and it looks like it can't find proper mode in EDID table and hence stops.

Thanks for the response. I think I may have found a solution to using the AV In port on the monitor and using it with my 5D that way.

Is it possible to play footage back from camera to monitor? My flip lcd turns off when hdmi connected so cannot use touch screen to replays footage. Its hard becaude everything on video monitor is in chines. If you cannot read chined maybe this is wrong monitor for you.

Can anyone confirm if the mini-vga port is an output or input.

I hope it's an input so that I can use it as an external PC monitor. The translated English with anyone that sells the device is contradicting.

Good news about matte screen.
I hope that improved version without tuner and with better resolution screen will be available soon.

yep and frankly if the HDMI is not able to work with T2i, 5D it is a lot of lost customers.
for instance i am looking for such monitor to work as prompter with my ipod, and it would be really nice.

I don't get that you are trying to say here.
As for 5DMII - market is extremely small and do not worth focusiong on it.
T2i is not intended for external monitor use due to low quality output during recording.

Sounds crazy. Why fo you need iPod?
This monitor contains USB and SD Card based video player.
Get any good titling software and you'll have prompter without any iPods.

If they start to produce this 10 inch display in a 720p resolution I would for sure buy one. The option of a non glossy screen is a nice feature. A transreflective screen would be even better.

I'm also curious when the update is coming out? I'm not in a rush to get one, but if something better is coming down the line soon it would be great to know.

So, should I get this or hold out for the new model? Please advise.

Good common advice is as follows - if you need to shoot something do not wait and get best option today (remember to select matte, non-glossy screen).
Otherwise wait for updated version.
I hope that Viner Chan will be able to provide estimate of availabiliyt of updated version soon.

I've just ordered one of Mr Chan. I asked him a few questions on alibaba and he's been good with correspondence. I did want the 'dvxuser' updated version but I really needed one now. I'll probably update it when he brings his new one out. I ordered the Matte/ English language version. I'll post a quick review of it when I get it in the next week or so.

Great.

Now what's the deal with their 9"? It also lists HDMI & VGA inputs. They have '720p' in the title, but don't give the native panel resolution in the specs. It also has a much bigger frame, so might even be larger than the 10" - but a non-glossy 720p panel would clinch it.

Either is too big for me though (unless I get desperate). I think the market is much bigger for smaller 720p screens, posts here confirm that.

On handheld rig 10" will be too much, yes. But on good tripod or to show client your footage it is much better.
5.6"-6" will be ideal, especially with very small and aluminium frame.
But... in fact it requires many many things. Design, moulding forms, etc.
And it is almost impossible for such small amounts.

While i am lamenting weather to order it now or latter, has anyone found small cold mini HDMI spliter.
I just got 10 meters miniHDMI cable so kind of wonder if any cold splitter support that lenght if for instance you plug 10" MrChan and generic 24" monitor??

hey man , have you ever used a prompter ?
you need to change speed scrolling on the fly (try that with a avi file) and font size , and you can bet that if you come with your video file at customers' place, the half of the text has been modified.
Plus add the fact that usually prompters displays a mirrored text on one screen and a regular text on console.
(unless you are good at reading mirrored text)
there are very nice, almost free prompter apps for ipod and you can even connect to an external vga screen.
currently i use a laptop with wireless VGA, but if i can do that from my ipod why not ?

for those with ipad and iphones, look at teleprompt+ , for PC , q-flip
lots of prompters available, very few with smooth scrolling.
