    FX6: I can see again!

Doug, your list of don't likes could have been written by me. Also your taste in music. I'm worried you might be a long lost brother my father didn't tell me about!

Really useful tip for FX3/30 with external monitor

Just had to pass on this simple tip to any FX3/30 users who use an external monitor. I just bought an FX3 as a B cam and a Shinobi as the camera LCD screen is too small to be useful. (For some situations I prefer a monitor to an EVF.) Great, except you can’t see both the LCD and the external...

    Headphone recommendations

I need some new headphones, mostly for editing. The new Rode NTH-100s look interesting. Wonder if anyone has tried/compared them, eg to the new Sennheisers - my Sennheiser HD-26 Pros just gave up the ghost.

Sony FX6 stabilising in CB vs lens steadyshot and Resolve

Did some quick tests during a break on a shoot last week and found that setting the lens steady shot ON and then stabilising in Resolve worked slightly better than stabilising in Catalyst Browse, which you can only do if the lens ss is off. Tried it on my 24-105 and 70-200, same result with...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

Totally agree with Doug. Cameras these days are actually computers with lenses to gather light and process it. There are SO MANY adjustments we can make that affect this process and it's hard to find the best settings for different situations. I've used most still and video cameras (no...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

Copied from the Resolve manual: DaVinci Resolve is resolution independent, so you can change the resolution at any time and all windows, tracks, sizing changes, and keyframe data will be automatically recalculated to fit the new size. For example, you can work on a 4K project while monitoring...

Put my order in over nine weeks ago, was told eight to twelve weeks but I'll believe it when I have it in my cold little hands!

Jesus wept. Stop bombarding us with useless information. How long was the day? 8 hours? 12 hours? 16 even? And was that with continuous takes? Stop starting? Did you time how many minutes each take was and then add them up for a grand total? And what about reviewing takes? Did you even do that...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

A little bird just told me CVP (in the UK) have over 150 pre-ordered "and they're coming through in ones and twos." Looks like Sony got this one right.

My dealer told me to expect to wait 6 weeks at best but it could be between 8 to 12. Have gigs booked so will have to rent till it arrives. At the rate Sony is releasing cameras we'll be on to the FX6 mk2 by then!

Dawdling between the FX9 and 6. Finally ordered the 6 yesterday. Will update any info as I get it in case it helps anyone else who is waiting.

P22 of the FX6 manual "Attaching a lens" says "Attach/remove a lens while the camcorder is turned off." Its the first note after "Caution". I really think they should make it more noticable if it's likely to cause problems.

I suspect this camera will hit a sweet spot and be the new FS7, ie really popular, and so we can look forward to quite a range of gear to choose from.

Good thread to start, Ben. I have the FX6 on preorder so as soon as it arrives I'll be trying to add anything positive I can. Thanks for starting. I won't list it all because I come from too far back, right back to 8mm film spools (before even the plastic cartridges!) having used just about...
