Just curious if anyone knows if the Sony FX1's Cineframe24 setting (shooting standard DV) will match fairly well with the DVX's 24p footage. For instance, if you were doing a multi camera concert shoot with 2 DVX's and a Sony FX1. Thanks guys.
Ben
I know there is a sticky on this, but its for the 100A and I have not been able to find if the same rules apply for the 100B. Just want to be extra sure. Anybody know?
Thanks
Ben
I'm currently working on a documentary about a well known jazz musician and his songwriting process. He's been commissioned to write a song for a New Year's Event and its going to incorporate a jazz ensemble, a sting orchestra, a Greek chorus, and some other crazy stuff.
This guy has had a...
I'm sure this varies in the extreme, but what is a usual shooting ratio for a documentary? I'm working on one right now and I can't believe how many tapes we're blowing through. It's just shoot shoot shoot.
Maybe a better question would be, for those of you who have shot documentaries...
For an entry level position at a production company, should you pretty much expect to be making about $25K a year?
I might be hired to work on a nationally televised TV program soon, as an entry level production associate. I'd get a ton of experience, it'd be an awesome job, etc. etc. But...
This isn't technically my demo reel, but rather my demo reel montage that plays at the beginning of my demo reel DVD. I posted this in the screen grabs forum, but haven't gotten as many responses as I hoped so thought I'd post it here too. It's about 2 minutes long. Thanks for your time...
Right now I use a program called ilink ipod to get songs off of my ipod, but its a big pain b/c the program gives me access to the songs in disorganized folders, so I have to do a ton of searching to locate the song I want to pull off the ipod. Anyone know a better way?
I know a lot of people have already shot their films or at least some of it. I have not.
Just curious to see who else, like me, won't be shooting until after New Years?
Okay guys. This is my first Demo Reel montage out of college. Let me know what you all think. The compression shouldn't be too bad, it's my first time out with that as well.
EDIT: I should note that this is just a montage I'm using that autoplays on my Demo Reel DVD before getting to the...

Hey guys,
I wanted to get my demo reel up on the site for some critique but don't have a web page. I've been trying to find a good, free web host, but have been disappointed with the results.
megaupload.com would've made everyone wait 45 seconds before the download of my file...
Okay, I already know the answers to this.
WIRED is always better than WIRELESS.
Lavalier is low on the totem pole for mic choices.
I know that the boomed oktava would work better than a Wireless Lectro Lav. Then why am I posting this? Here's my problem.
We have not been able to find an...
I'm trying to compress a 5 minute video down to a < 10 MB, ready for streaming on the web.
I've tried tons of combinations.
Straight out of FCP using QT Conversion, H.264, MPEG-4.
Using QT 7 Pro.
Using Compressor.
I've gotten it down to 10 mb, less in some cases, but the quality...
How can I make a track in DVD Studio Pro auto play before the DVD Menu? I need to get the track to auto play because I'm piecing together different MPEG-2 files on the same track, ala editing within DVD SP, (long story, but my best option for this demo reel).
Any tips on how to do this...
What is the best way to work with MPEG-2 files in FCP?
Unfortunately the only version of an old movie of mine that I want to edit into a demo reel is an MPEG-2, with a separate Dolby sound file. What are my options as far as preserving the best possible image and sound quality, and working...
Well, I'm glad I just wasted $20 on the Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback option from the Apple store. It won't install on my computer, and everytime I've sent them a question they direct me to their public discussion forums for help. The forums have not given me a solution, and I'm starting to get...
The decision seems pretty split between using a boomed mic or a lav mic during an interview.
What do you guys think? I have an Oktava that I was going use on a boom for my indoor interviews, recording to both channels, hot to one and softer on the other.
Would it be a better idea to use a...
Why can't Quicktime playback an Uncompressed 10 bit. video file I have? Am I missing something, or is there some additional software I need to install. It'll play the audio, just not the video.
Hey guys,
Web Compression Noob.
I have to post this 5 minute video on the web. What I did is compress it from FCP using Compressor. I selected Quicktime 7 Ready, Web Download, H.264, 800 kbps. The resulting file is 39 MB, looks great, sounds great, etc. This should be fine to put...

I think that's a bit extreme... I certainly haven't had a problem with this.
