LOL: Loss Of Language

Interesting take on Loss especially when you consider the rise of the acronym and loss of the nation's ability to spell correctly. The documentary style was interesting to see and worked well for the piece. I enjoyed it. May have to rewatch it again later, and come back, but I enjoyed it.

Great different take on this fest. You don't see a lot of mockumentaries here.

The audio and video were both very strong. Good actors as well. It wasn't quite as funny as I wanted it to be. There were a lot of things that were funny, but I didn't LOL. (Couldn't resist)

My favorite segment was the HAYT guy. His desperation was great.

SPOILER!!!!!

I love that they retire his phrase upon his death, when all he wanted was to make it popular.

I feel like this piece needed a little more set-up. We never find out who the interviewer is, and why he's delving into this topic, which I feel like is a consistent element of most documentaries.

Good, quality work though.

so we have an entire intro/set-up for the doc by Artis Newfounder, but unfortunately had to cut it due to the 6 min TRT rule. when all is done we will release our entire 13 minute piece which also includes the creator of BRB.

thanks for the valued input!!

This was an entertaining piece. Very funny and it makes you really think about where the acronyms really came from. The HAYT guy had a very strong case too! Very nice, original concept. The only thing I saw negative was that the host was overexposed in a couple of shots. Good entry.

Great subject matter, but the film left me flat...the funny wasn't that funny. The OMG girl was way over the top for me. Loved the WTF guy! I would love to see you develop the idea a little better. Thanks for the chuckle!

Lol

Lol

excellent job !! had some minor tension holes but over all my sort of fun!

Had a great time watching this one :Drogar-Love(DBG):

mockumentary...never heard this one before, but it fits!

sound was good
filmed ok
good acting!

I liked a lot of the choices that were made. I love the fact that each of the acronymists are distinctly different (although 2 dimensional) characters. Of them all I really think the best performance though came from Hendrix, creator of "LOL". I think the documentarian/interviewer was a little weak in the realistic acting department. I also think this would benefit from a rewrite. It's conceptually quite fun and could do well if reworked a little. Watch more actual documentaries and really get a feel for them, and then spin it all on it's head again and see what comes out.

Nice work.

This was a nice easy ride. Really enjoyed it. Lots of good points, like how you made the characters cliche and distinct. After the first few seconds you knew the characters already. Some good touches throughout, small things, as an example the WTF guy holding a shotgun at the interview.

This was definitely a funny and clever piece. I'm glad you turned away from cliche-ridden formulas and went, like Zim, in a documentary manner to uncover the sagacious world of acronym writing! All of the characters seemed accurate for the type of acronym they created, and the lead was a charismatic and watchable host.

I'm having a difficult time pinpointing things that I would adjust in the film. Most of the critiques I could relay are purely aesthetic differences. I felt the performances all around were dead on (loved the mentally incapacitated hippy, LOATHED the snot girl, deeply respected and felt sorrow for Dusty, and enjoyed the simplicity of the WTF guy).

It's an interesting film, and I'm curious to see what everyone's take it. Nice work!

I definitely enjoyed the idea of this film more than the actual production. That being said though I still liked it and thought it had some good laugh out loud moments. And yes, it took a conscious effort not to "Lol" that.

This film is way overdue. It's gotten so LOL is used even for dumb shi*.

"My cat died. LoL"

I'm waiting for Buddhist monks to replace OM with LOL.

Really enjoyed this. Very funny stuff. Like the Loss of Language play on it.

Great idea for a mockumentary.

I especially like the subtitle you came up with "loss of language" - it's true in a way.

My favorite of the interviewees was the LOL guy. He had a cool vibe.

Best of luck in the contest.

This was very clever and pretty well executed. I didn't really like the host/documentarian too much though - it seemed like his performance deserved gaudy graphics and cheap sound effects, as if the production were mocking a ridiculous tv show instead of a documentary film. Does that make sense?

I would have been content to watch an entire six minutes just about Hendrix - he was the most engaging to me. I will definitely check out your 13 minute cut when you release it.
