I absolutly agree! We had all this expensive lighting equipment, but no gaffer. In those particular scenes we were also way over schedule, so things got set up in quite a hurry.Your exterior shots all looked good, and the interiors seemed overlit and without motivation for what was going - bar the first party shot after he had taken the mushrooms. Talking specifically about the bedroom scene with his sister and bathroom scene with his friend.
Thanks a lot mate!I liked this a lot. I thought it had a great look to it. It also had a great style and tone throughout so that, even though I'm not sure I understood all of it, I felt like I still connected to it.
Your actors were great and I really dug the music.
Well done.
Wow, thanks a lot!I really liked this one.
Felt very real to life.
Great work and good luck!
I have some mixed feelings about the music myself. In the ending sequence I wanted it to be subtle and was very afraid of make it too pretensious. But maybe we should have gone further.I thought this was really great, Kyrre. The best I have seen so far in this fest.
The criticism I have is that I did not care for most of the music. It felt a little distracting to me in the scene where he is freaking out in the bathroom, and I didn't like the solo acoustic guitar at the end. I wanted a bigger swell at the end, I think.
That's literally my only complaint. The acting, directing, editing, and cinematography were top notch. I would very much like to see some other work of yours. Well done.
Maybe that's a good thing! It's harder to tell if someone's a solid actor or not (for me anyway) when it's in a different language.
I tried to use the running as a visual metaphor for how he was running away from/escaping reality. I am really pleased you picked up on that!Kyrre, I totally dug the simplicity of this story. How someone tries to bury themselves in anything else, sometimes to keep them from accepting the truth, no matter how ugly it is...in this case, the death of the boy's father.
While I didn't quite get what order some of the events were taking place in, I liked the shots (except for one where he was running outside at night, a tad too dark/underexplosed for my tastes), the settings you had, the experience of his life & running away from his problems that you gave us.
Real Strong Entry, easily one of my favorites thus far. Enjoy all aspects of the film except one. The music at the end took me out of it. Maybe something a little less intense (or less strum-my) would be more appropriate. Other then that it captivated me through out.
Great job.

Looks like a lot of people don't like the music in the ending. Some want more, some want less. I definitely agree it did not turn out quite right. It was also originally intended to be played faster, but we had no time for the composer to re-record.I felt that way as well. I sort of wanted the focus to be solely on the lead's actions in the scene and seeing everyone else's reactions.
Still strong, nonetheless.
I can also see the "greenscreen"-ish effect in a lot of the footage (it was shot on location, obviouslyReally good job kyrre. Well shot and directed. You did a good job of balancing story and time constraint...involved enough to mean something, but simple enough to digest within the time frame. Lots of shots that I liked here. I thought the actors did a good job as well.
If you really want nitpicky criticism, the end sequence with him running seemed kind of floaty like it was green screened...maybe the backgorund seemed to be moving too fast. Other than that, it was really well made on many counts. Great job.
That means a lot to me! :dankk2:wow, where did you come from? nice work kyrre. this is one of the best of the fest, imo.
