"FALLING UP" a Flyin' Monkey Films production

Weird I can't download your movie... here's what I got

Have you tried downloading the zip files instead? I'm just taking the time to download all of them via zip first, then unpack & watch from there ... should solve the problem of individual link issues, etc.

Hey Puck. Man, I know I've been M.I.A this fest and everything but I'm downloading the zips right now and wanted to stop by and wish you luck man. I really like your film's concept and I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'll be back after I watch it. Later!

Thanks for listing that Zak.

And good to see you back Champloo. You made it in so ROCK ON! Hopefully I'll actually be back in Atlanta sometime over the next few months. I'll hit you up when I get into town, or before.

puck, i watched your film, you badass. looking beyond the ADR, i really dug it. especially the actress playing "rach", she was great. and i liked how you took a high concept story and tied it to two people we could relate to. nice work.

Zak, thanks for watching. We had some issues with the ADR mix which finally did get resolved but too late for the competition entry. I'm glad you're able to look beyond that to the story and actual movie. Hope I can be as lucky with everyone else. Anyway, Jessica was a real find and as soon as we met she just felt so right for the part. Glad you dug it and related so well to the characters. Finding the human elements in the concept was the challenge for me, hence so many rewrites.

Frank: I take it you liked it? My brand of humor is not for everyone, but I seem to have tickled your funnybone...

Hehe, kewl. Awesome edit job. Were all the sounds foley'd? It felt that way. Good choice of shots too. I really like the actors especially when the girl started to bug out =P

It's good to know all the cool abnormal kids have limits

That was good. I got a good laugh out of it. The acting was good too. The girl I thought di a really nice job.

Oh puck... I love this film... very interesting story and Jessica's acting was excellent... she's definitely gifted... I don't know but I love films that gave me goosebumps, I felt the emotion that she had when she walks away from him...
Well done, my friend!

Since I did a 36 hour marathon of viewing and approving films, I really need to go back and watch some of them again before giving in depth comments.

but, I just want to say that this film had the best score of any I can think of. It immediately struck me and set a nice tone for the film.

Technically, there were some issues, which if resolved could have really elevated this film to another level.

But, this was a creative piece, that was executed quite well, and you owe your composer something, b/c it was perfect for this film.

The main thing that bothered me was the ADR. it seemed like the film was 100% adr and the audio and the visuals just didn't seem to meld together into one piece.

Story was nice, and I had to take a moment to realize how this embraced the theme, but after reflection :) I think you embraced it in a unique and effective way, and thanks for that.

Later,
Jason

Watch the post-dubbing, it wasn't mixing well at times and could become distracting.

Beyond the ADR I enjoyed this a lot, a real fun story with excellent score, pacing, and characters I could connect with. A good sense of humor too.

The score on this one, as said really set the tone for the film. I loved it - fantastic job by your composer. I enjoyed the shot selection more in this one than your other entry, but again...what really made it hard for me to watch was the sound issues. It sounded so detached from the movie that it pulled me out of it.

I thought Jessica had a couple overacting moments, but for the most part the acting was good and the story was well chosen.

you have a nice eye.

though as has been stated, i am curious as to the choice to ADR everything. it kinda sucked the soul outta a lot of it for me. but even so, i can def respect the time and effort such a thing takes.

The opening shot of this film is fantastic. Perfectly executed. I also really like the different ways you made him fly without any big budget hollywood effects. Very cute story.

I like her freaking out on him with the pillow, but it goes on a little too long. Was that improv?

The end was very sweet.

Keep working on that ADR. Would like to see it again when the lines and walking sounds were better matched. I know everyone is saying this, but I guess that proves the point that audio is as important, if not more important, than the image.

I really dug this story. I thought it was original, clever, and a lot of fun.

I liked your actors too, even with the ADR troubles. The music was excellent.

Also, I thought your credits were great and captured the spirit and energy of the film.

Well done.

Okay, it's official, this is not LossFest, it is ComedyFest. The few entries that weren't comedies this time around just missed the mark and the freakin' memo.

I really enjoyed the story and the concept, very fun. Music was really great, I love Damian, he's one of my heroes. I will say it's a shame you weren't able to use audio from the actual shoot. If you don't have it, buy Barry Green's "Sound for Film and Television" DVD, and utilize what you learn from it. I give almost full credit to that DVD for how clean my audio turned out in "STUPENDOUS". I didn't have to do ANY audio cleanup, noise reduction, anything, and it's thanks to what I learned from that DVD. I also want to compliment you on often quite cleverly shooting around his falling up, nicely done. :)

Oh, and Jessica Sinclair, adorable. ...Ya know, I AM recently single, so uh.... ...ah nevermind.
